- We are looking for Assistant Engineer to Lead Design Engineer – Tunnels to join our team. This role will be based at our Atkins office in Bangalore, Gurgaon IN.
How will you contribute to the team?
- To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- The successful candidate will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop geotechnical deliverables.
- This will present an opportunity to develop to become a holistic geotechnical professional.
- Preparing geotechnical calculations, specifications (e.g. GI, etc.), reports (e.g. Desk Studies, GIR, GDR etc.) and drawings in line with project and legislation requirements.
- Design of earthworks, retaining walls, reinforced earth slopes and foundations.
What will you contribute?
- A strong academic background with degree in Civil engineering and Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant subject with 15 - 20 plus years relevant design experience.
- With minimum 5 - 10 years of relevant design experience and preferably having experience in Ground Investigation Works and Site inspection.
- Work experience in earthworks strategy and management plan, cut-fill balancing, backfill blending, stockpiling, load transfer platform and working platform, design of retaining walls (gravity type, precast) and sheet pile, reinforced earth slopes, and design of embankment and cuttings.
- Work experience in preparation of Specifications, drawings and BOQ is preferred.
- Experience in Ground investigation and 3D ground modelling would be an advantage.
- Work experience in ground improvement techniques, namely Deep soil mixing, Controlled Modulus Columns and jet grouting related to tunnelling would be an advantage.
- Construction experience in earthworks for deep excavation, ground improvement would be an advantage.
- Work experience in BIM modelling (Leapfrogs, CIVIL 3D, Navisworks) would be an advantage.
- Experience of working in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment.
- Analytical skills to assess complex problems and deliver appropriate solutions.
- Proficient with geotechnical analysis software like SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, WALLAP or FREW, GEO5, PDISP and REPUTE.
- Ability to work on your own. Supervising their own technical and professional development.
- A high level of numeracy and attention to details with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
- Knowledge in international standards like BS codes, AASHTO, CIRIA, Eurocodes, Canadian foundation engineering handbook is preferred.
Desirable Requirements:
- Producing high quality technical work including geotechnical analysis and design.
- To assist senior staff on projects and guide junior team members.
- Willingness to travel on short term assignments both within India and overseas.
- A high level of numeracy and attention to details with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
- Work on your own, coordinate with multi discipline teams and clients.
- Ability to adapt to different cultures and working environments to build rapport with customers.
- Excellent written and spoken English within a business environment.
- Excellent communication skills and willing to liaise with international clients.
- Experience in earthworks strategy, cut-fill balancing, backfill blending, stockpiling and design of retaining walls and reinforced earth slopes is preferred. Experience in earthworks for deep excavation, ground improvement would be an advantage.
- Working towards obtaining chartership (CEng MICE, ICE UK).
- Awareness of health and safety (CDM 2015), commercial and contractual risks is preferred.
- Flexibility for cross skilling in another sub discipline of Civil Engineering is expected.
