This position will identify customer warranty claims and costs, and coordinate the division-wide effort to reduce Customer warranty claims associated with BorgWarner components and BorgWarner warranty liability. To identify, analyze, and reduce customer warranty claims, costs and incidents to eliminate Chennai warranty liability. Works directly with customers to gain quick resolution to all product complaintsResponsibility:Continuously monitor customer warranty activity through customer online warranty databases, direct dealer communications, customer assembly plant communication, and other sourcesCorroborate failure types and root causes through analysis of warranty return teardownsAssemble teams from division-wide resources to investigate the true cause of warranty claims and actual warranty failuresManage warranty Improvement projects to address and resolve the most significant sources of warranty claims and warranty liabilityProvide all relevant feedback and lessons learned as inputs to design engineering and application engineeringProcess warranty data into statistical reliability models for engineering durability prediction and manufacturing costingBasic knowledge in electrical motors , Actuators, electrical test and inspectionConduct competitor benchmarking on technical and statistical warranty performanceKnowledge in AIAG core tools like FMEA, SPC , MSA, PPAP, APQP, Control plan is essential.Perform warranty reliability “weibull analysis” to get failure rates, months in service (MIS) simulation, cumulative Incident per thousand vehicle (IPTV) simulation using softwares. Report all warranty results and progress regularly to our primary customers and within the divisionEnsure the timely processing of all customer warranty claims and returns, assigning corrective action where appropriate8D Manager with ownership of the 8D system/process and the primary driver of regular open 8D reviews. Provide support for production issues as prevention to warranty.Report on environment, health and safety related issues on the available communication mediums.Ensure safety audits completion on time and vigilant to safety at workplace for safe working environment.Safety Incident investigation & Closing responsibility with 8DWhat we’re looking forMinimum 10-15 years of work experience preferred in automotive or automotive supplier industry in field of warranty engineering. Also working experience in Process Quality and Customer quality would be an added advantage.Working knowledge of quality system requirements, trained auditor in IATF 16949.Engineering-level understanding of statistics and reliabilityOutstanding team building and communication skills are necessary, as the position will be required to work with Plant engineering, Application engineering, Manufacturing engineering, Production, In plant Quality, Purchasing and Supply Chain.Disciplined 8D problem solving / failure analysis of materials and processes, including manufacturing issue troubleshootingMinitab working experience mustManage positive, constructive relationships with customers, understanding their needs and requirements.
