Job Description

Position Overview:


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Modeller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data modeling, data warehousing, and database design, with a proven ability to lead data initiatives and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. This role is critical for ensuring the integrity and usability of data across the organization and requires a deep understanding of relational databases and data governance principles.


Overall Responsibilities:


  • Lead the design and implementation of data models for various business needs, ensuring alignment with data warehousing methodologies and best practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective data models that support business intelligence and decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain data warehousing structures, ensuring data quality, integrity, and accessibility.
  • Oversee the use of data modeling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, ERwin, IBM Data Architect) to create and manage data models.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance principles and industry regulations related to data privacy and protection.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior data modelers and other team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to facilitate data integration and ensure a cohesive strategy for data management.
  • Analyze and resolve data-related issues, leveraging strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Technical Skills:


  • Data Modeling:Expertise in data modeling, data warehousing methodologies, and database design.
  • Database Technologies:Strong understanding of relational database concepts and proficiency in SQL.
  • Data Modeling Tools:Experience with industry-standard data modeling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, ERwin, IBM Data Architect).
  • Data Governance:Familiarity with data governance principles and practices, including compliance with data privacy regulations.
  • Domain Knowledge:Good to have knowledge of Banking, BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance), and Capital Markets domains.

Experience:


  • Minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience in data modeling, data warehousing, and database design.
  • Proven track record in database design and management, with a focus on delivering high-quality data solutions.

Day-to-Day Activities:


  • Design and review data models to ensure they meet business requirements and data governance standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Monitor data quality and integrity, implementing necessary changes to improve data processes.
  • Conduct training sessions and provide mentorship to junior team members on data modeling and best practices.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in data modeling and data management technologies.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications in data modeling or data management are preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Excellent leadership skills and the ability to mentor and guide team members.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while managing multiple tasks and projects.
