About the Role
We are looking for a creative, dynamic and motivated Data Engineer to join the Trustworthy Shopping Experience(TSE) Operations team . The mission of this team is to protect Customer trust on Amazon’s stores world wide by using statistical analysis .
The ideal candidate thrives in working with large and complex data warehouse environments and has excellent verbal and written communication skills, is motivated by developing innovative and simplified solutions to solve complex analytical problems using very large data sets. The candidate is passionate about working with large data sets and bringing data together to answer business questions and drive change. These analysis and solutions will be fundamental to finding opportunities and creating new programs aimed at helping arrest abusive / bad actors on amazon platform faster.
He/she will have a unique opportunity to closely partner with senior leaders and product, science, technology and operations teams across the organization driving programs that are critical to protecting our Buyers and genuine Sellers from bad actors. He/she will also play a critical role in influencing and shaping organization's strategy and product roadmap.

Key job responsibilities
- Architecture design and implementation of next generation data pipelines and BI solutions
- Manage AWS resources including EC2, RDS, Redshift, Kinesis, EMR, Lambda, Glue, Apache Airflow etc.
- Build and deliver high quality data architecture and pipelines to support business analyst, data scientists, and customer reporting needs.
- Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources
- Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers
- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with SQL
- Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language, whether it's Java, Scala, or Python.
- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
- A proven knack for effective communication with users, technical counterparts, and senior management to gather requirements, elucidate data modelling decisions, and outline data engineering strategies.
