American Express is entering into a technology transformation phase driven by opportunities to modernize legacy platforms and explore modern software to be on the leading edge of payment card industry. If you have the talent and desire to deliver innovative products and services at a rapid pace, with deep hands-on experience and strategic thinking, in areas of real time, high available and highly scalable application development, join our Enterprise Architecture (EA) team to help transform the Amex legacy systems to a state of the art distributed and global processing environment. This individual will architect cutting-edge strategies for the payment process using latest computing techniques driving proof of concepts with strong hands-on experience. About Enterprise Architecture:
Enterprise Architecture is an organization within the Chief Technology Office at American Express and it is a key enabler of the company’s technology strategy. The four pillars of Enterprise Architecture include:
1. Architecture as Code: this pillar owns and operates foundational technologies that are leveraged by engineering teams across the enterprise.
2. Architecture as Design: this pillar includes the solution and technical design for transformation programs and business critical projects which need architectural guidance and support.
3. Governance: this pillar is responsible for defining technical standards, and developing innovative tools that automate controls to ensure compliance.
4. Colleague Enablement: this pillar is focused on colleague development, recognition, training, and enterprise outreach.
Knowledge/Skills
· Able to establish, modify or maintain data structures and associated components according to design
· Understands Metadata Management and Database Management concepts
· Understands and documents business data requirements in complete, accurate, extensible and flexible logical data models using data modeling tools – ErStudio, ErWin etc.
· Creates data models using the relevant tools and frameworks
· Able to come up with Conceptual and Logical Data Models at Enterprise, Business Unit/Domain Level
· Understands XML/JSON and schema development/reuse, database concepts, database designs, Open Source and NoSQL concepts
· Partners with Sr. Data Engineers and Sr. Data architects to create platform level data models and database designs
· Good understanding and Technical knowledge of DBMS products and ecosystem – e.g. storage formats, access algorithms, data management processes, administration, data maintenance, replication, high availability, encryption, etc.”
· Ability to monitor and tune databases and DBMS’s to reach high performance – e.g. use data monitoring and analysis tools, tune configuration parameters, alter physical designs, benchmark, etc.
· Takes part in reviews of own work and reviews of colleagues' work
· Application of industry recognized methods, processes and standards
· Has working knowledge of the core tools used in the planning, analyzing, designing, building, testing, configuring and maintaining of assigned application(s)
