Title : Costing Engineer

Maternity Cover – Fixed Contract – 1 year

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To support all departments with technical back up liaising with customers and all internal departments where necessary

Provide accurate cost estimates to the company's business development team or directly to the customer while maintaining transparent and traceable costing model.

Read customer drawings and evaluate manufacturing feasibility studies and process routes.

Generate cost estimates for new parts based on customer requirements and market conditions.

Manage RFQs and other customer inquiries promptly and in a timely manner.

Coordinate with cross-functional teams (including manufacturing, design, purchasing, and quality) to evaluate manufacturing feasibility, material and tooling requirements, and other technical considerations.

Generate cost estimates for existing parts based on latest material/process costs.

Communicate with sub-contractors and suppliers to gather information regarding material and process costs.

Maintain up-to-date information on material, labour, and process costs, as well as machine parameters.

Support the modification and refinement of Excel-based costing models.

Provide cost estimating guidance to all stakeholders in the organization.

Maintain safe working practices and observe Health & Safety regulations in accordance with Company Policy & current legislation at all times.

To ensure that the Dept maintains a high standard of Housekeeping (cleanliness of workspace and related areas) throughout.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

HNC or HND in Eng discipline, preferably Mechanical Eng or Prod Eng.

SKILLS PREFERRED:

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

Knowledge of GD&T

Microsoft Excel

Excellent written & verbal communication

EXPERIENCE:

Hands on experience within manufacturing industry – preferably automotive components.

Knowledge of TS16949 and PPAP, FMEA, and other relevant standards.

Previous experience in cost estimation preferred.
