Job Description
As a Control Management Senior Associate, you'll be responsible for ensuring the line of business has a sustainable and disciplined end-to-end control environment, identifying and escalating issues with a sense of urgency, and partnering with the Business to ensure issues are remediated in a timely manner. The team assists in top-down risk analysis, real-time control issue detection, escalation, root cause analysis, and remediation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and leadership for the Risk & Control Self-Assessment process. This includes managing control breaks and resolutions to minimize financial loss, regulatory exposure, and reputational risk. This requires a deep understanding of risk management frameworks and strong leadership skills.
- Identify, assess, and advise on strategic solutions to enhance efficiency and build a more resilient operating environment. This involves a proactive approach to risk management and process improvement.
- Ensure the effectiveness of key controls and lead communications with regulatory and audit bodies, both internally and externally. This requires strong communication skills and the ability to manage relationships with regulatory entities.
- Oversee the governance of business operational risks, ensuring issues are escalated appropriately to line of business and firmwide operating committees. This involves maintaining a robust risk governance framework and ensuring timely escalation of issues.
- Collaborate with senior business clients and partners across various functional areas such as Legal, Finance, Compliance, and Risk, as well as across different geographies. This requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and global environment.
- Conduct frequent side-by-sides with the business units to understand their operations and risks better. This involves direct engagement with business teams to identify and address risk-related issues.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in financial services industry with background in controls, audit, quality assurance, operational risk management, or compliance preferred; or equivalent subject matter expertise in a relevant business related function/operation
- Proficiency working in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills:
- Process Mapping - ability to utilize technology (e.g. Signovio) to visually create the end to end processes
- Control Management - ability to understand a process and associated risks to inform control design, understanding root cause/identifying control breaks, developing timely and sustainable solutions, writing action plans, change management, process analysis etc.
- Business Knowledge - ability to understand the business/knowledge of regulations surrounding the business
- Data & Analytical Skills - solid critical thinking, attention to detail and analytical skills; ability to utilize technology (e.g. Alteryx) to query data, synthesize the data and formulate appropriate conclusions
