What success looks like in this role:


This role is for Control M & Mainframe Admin for one of our prestigious clients, California State University. The role requires the engineer to have good multi-tasking skills. The engineer will have exposure to multiple technology stacks, so an advanced level of knowledge of distributed platforms and Mainframe platforms would be beneficial. The engineer must have good verbal and written skills to communicate effectively with internal teams and account management stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities: -


Control-M Administration Responsibilities


System Maintenance and Configuration:


  • Perform upgrades, patches, and configuration of Control-M components.
  • Ensure high availability and performance of the Control-M environment.
  • Automation and Optimization:
  • Develop and implement automation scripts to improve job scheduling efficiency.
  • Optimize workflows to meet SLA requirements and improve system utilization.
  • Security and Compliance:
  • Manage user roles, permissions, and access controls in compliance with organizational policies.
  • Ensure adherence to security protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Manage job scheduling, execution, and monitoring within the Control-M environment.
  • Troubleshoot job failures, analyze root causes and provide timely resolution.


Reporting and Documentation:


  • Generate periodic reports on job performance and resource utilization.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of workflows, procedures, and incident resolutions.

Leadership and Coordination:


  • Supervise and guide the team in managing day-to-day operations and meeting deadlines.
  • Assign tasks, prioritize workloads, and ensure smooth communication within the team.
  • Training and Development:
  • Mentor team members and provide knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance skills.
  • Ensure new team members receive adequate onboarding and training.

Stakeholder Communication:


  • Act as a single point of contact for stakeholders, addressing queries and providing updates.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams for seamless operations.
  • Performance Management:
  • Monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures.

Strategic Planning:


  • Plan resource allocation, and shift schedules, and ensure 24/7 operational support.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and align team goals with organizational objectives.

You will be successful in this role if you have:


  • B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
  • Advanced expertise in IBM Mainframe, Control-M, and OpCon.
  • Strong knowledge of JCL and IBM VSE environment.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
