 Detailed Job Description


 Oracle is looking for an experienced Project Manager with strong background in telecom domain to work as part of the Project Management Practice within Oracle Communications Consulting Team.  


  1. Primarily responsible for the delivery of offshore scope of work as per the contractual obligations with the customer (per signed contract) and agreements made with Project Manager. 
  2. Ensure that the project adopts the required processes by Project Management Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) 
  3. Analyzes business needs to help ensure Oracle’s solution meets the customer’s objectives by combining industry best practices and product knowledge. 
  4. Ensures deliverables are acceptable and works closely with the customer/partners to understand and manage project expectations. 
  5. Supports business development efforts by pursuing new opportunities and extensions.
  6. Collaborates with the consulting sales and delivery team by providing domain credibility.

 Responsibilities:


The responsibilities of Project Manager include:


  1. Review Complete Bid Package, discuss with Consulting Sales Team
  2. Prepare Scope document for Scope of Work for Consulting Projects
  3. Conduct project kick-off Onsite or Remotely based on the Customer Requirements
  4. Define the Project Management Plan (and associated plans including work plan) and Customer approval for the Project Management Plan  in accordance with the requirements of the Project Management Standard Operating Procedures
  5. Manage change requests with respect to Scope of work
  6. Prepare Risk Management Plan 
  7. Participate in the discussions to arrive at implementation approaches for Scope Deliverables
  8. Work Plan
    1. Develop detailed work plan and resource plan for Project Activities and communicate
    2. Assign tasks to offshore project personnel
  9. Monitor offshore staff and tracking project (offshore scope) as per 
  10. Organizational quality goals as well as project quality goals
  11. Project Milestones
  12. Escalate variations (including unplanned tasks) from the plans with the Customer
  13. Budget, Original scope, Business objectives
  14. Status report to Management (will include key financial metrics in weekly status report - approved budget days, days burnt to-date, Scope of work).
  15. Owns the assignment/accuracy/duration of all Consulting Resources and Plan resource extensions, additions and roll-offs as required
  16. Manage risks and escalated issues from project teams
  17. Seek out further opportunities for offshore and to add more value for the client
  18. Plan / Monitor appropriate Reuse Contribution / Leverage the available reusable assets.
  19. Participate and ensure offshore teams participation in the health checks and audits conducted by Quality Management Group and ensure that resulting actions are properly addressed
  20. Financials / Expense Policy
    1. Receive and Review the project expense policy , resource ramp-up and ramp-down policy (if as applicable) from the PM with project team and accountable for adherence
    2. Ensure the timesheets and expenses are submitted timely.
    3. Ensure that resources on the project enter time in PA by COB Friday.
    4. Review the project’s PMW and provide the required inputs . 
      1. Review the scheduled resource hours

  1. Review the vacation and holiday plans 
  2. Review the Bill Rate, Cost Rate and Levels
    • At least 10+ years of industry experience preferably in Telecom Domain 

 Job Requirements/Specification


  • At least 3 to 5 years in project/delivery management experience in the Telecom Domain
  • Experience in Telecom Network 3G/4G/5G Core Products  implementation projects
  • Good track record in delivering high quality project in time
  • Revenue Management and Cost Tracking
  • Candidate must have in-depth experience of using standard project management methodologies (PMP, Prince2) and software engineering methodologies complying with international quality standards such as CMM or ISO
  • Candidate must have experience of handling complex engagements with strong skills in contract/scope management
  • Strong communication skills to deal with internal stakeholders, customers, and partners
  • Candidate must have experience of managing project budgets 
  • Detailed understanding and solid experience of package integration, customization and implementation projects.
  • Planning and tracking (MS Project, PMW)
  • Comfortable working in a matrix organization
  • Ability to travel as needed

B.Tech/M. Tech/MCA/MBA

Analyzes business needs to help ensure Oracle’s solution meets the customer’s objectives by combining industry best practices and product knowledge. Effectively applies Oracle’s methodologies, policies, and procedures while adhering to contractual obligations, thereby minimizing Oracle’s risk and exposure. As a project lead, assists project team with aspects of their roles. Effectively influences decisions at the management level of customer organizations. Ensures deliverables are acceptable and works closely with the customer to understand and manage project expectations. Supports business development efforts by pursuing new opportunities and extensions. Collaborates with the consulting sales team by providing domain credibility. Manages the scope of small projects and sub-projects.
6-8 years of experience relevant to this position including 0-5 years of project management experience. Demonstrated ability to follow solid project management principles. Comfortable working in a matrix management environment. Strong communication skills to deal with internal stakeholders, customers, and vendors. Product, technology or industry expertise relevant to the portfolio focus. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience. Ability to travel as needed.
