Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Compliance Officer to join our team in GIFT City, regulated by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA). The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the company adheres to all relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies. This role will involve close monitoring of compliance matters, risk management, and regulatory reporting, ensuring that the company remains compliant with IFSCA’s rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor daily transactions to detect suspicious activity or potential money laundering risks.
- Review transaction alerts and escalate any high-risk or suspicious transactions for further investigation.
- Maintain accurate records of monitored transactions and prepare reports as required by internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STR) with appropriate authorities.
- Conduct thorough KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) checks for new clients in line with IFSCA regulations.
- Ensure client documentation is complete, valid, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Perform enhanced due diligence (EDD) for high-risk clients and politically exposed persons (PEPs).
- Collaborate with the relevant business units to ensure smooth and compliant onboarding processes.
- Conduct sanctions screening for clients, transactions, and parties to ensure compliance with national and international sanctions lists (OFAC, UN, EU, etc.).
- Ensure that clients and transactions are screened against updated sanctions lists, and take action as required (e.g., blocking transactions or reporting suspicious activity).
- Maintain thorough records of all sanctions checks and related actions taken.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that all company operations comply with relevant IFSCA regulations and other applicable laws governing GIFT City.
- Stay updated with IFSCA regulations, guidance notes, and any changes in the regulatory landscape.
- Policy and Procedure Development:
- Design, implement, and periodically review compliance policies and procedures in line with IFSCA requirements.
- Monitor compliance with internal policies and procedures and recommend improvements as needed.
- Regulatory Reporting:
- Prepare and submit required reports to IFSCA in accordance with prescribed deadlines and formats.
- Assist in responding to inquiries from regulatory authorities and auditors.
- Internal Audits and Inspections:
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to compliance matters.
- Coordinate with auditors to ensure timely and effective audits.
- Training and Awareness:
- Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees to raise awareness of regulatory requirements and ethical conduct.
- Promote a culture of compliance across all levels of the organization.
- Regulatory Liaison:
- Serve as the primary point of contact with IFSCA and other regulatory bodies regarding compliance matters.
- Manage communication with regulators, ensuring accurate and timely submissions of required documents and reports.
- Compliance Monitoring:
- Perform periodic compliance checks and ensure that the business units adhere to regulatory guidelines and internal policies.
- Investigate any compliance-related issues or discrepancies and report findings to senior management.
