Compensation and Benefits Specialist


Role overview:


The Compensation & Benefits specialist is responsible for local management of Benefits & Reward programs and policies, salary grading as well as (local) complex compensation and benefits query resolution for APAC region. Overall accountable for service delivery in C&B, ensuring 2nd tier support and strong project execution. The C&B specialist possesses knowledge of the local market regarding compensation & benefits and is aware of its impact on the organization. This person makes recommendations regarding salary grades or market rates for specific jobs and assists in the development of (local) incentive programs and the administration of e.g. merit-cycle programs. The C&B Specialist operates within a global framework and will incorporate local policies where applicable in the APAC region.


High level Responsibilities:


  • Assist regional people services lead to provide pro-active and tactical advice and solutions to business leaders/managers on C&B matters and translate into local policy where needed.
  • Understand the business direction within APAC region and assist regional people services lead to translate relevant insights and local requirements.
  • Responsible for filling and maintaining the compensation & benefits related legal compliances in coordination with the external legal consultant. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders within VI, such as tax office, Finance.
  • Responsible for the correct execution of (local) Compensation & Benefits processes in line with policies and standard operating procedures
  • Responsible for salary packaging arrangements and compensation administration
  • Overall accountable for service delivery in C&B, ensuring 2nd tier support and strong project execution
  • Responsible for the deployment of the roadmap of C&B topics with a direct impact and influence on Vanderlande being the employer of choice
  • Accountable for definition of the sustainable employability roadmap and implementation of the required policies, processes and guidelines; Accountable for the Health and Wellbeing policies, development, execution and continuous innovation, including supplier management with close involvement of procurement team.
  • Accountable for having and maintaining up-to-date deep functional knowledge to support with key moments that matter during the employee lifecycle.
  • Accountable for completing relevant research of internal policies and frameworks to support query resolution.
  • Responsible for performing salary grading for new positions, aligning to global policy.
  • Drives the local implementation/execution of annual reward programmes (e.g., merit cycle, Short/Long Term Incentive Plans) 
  • Possesses a strong working knowledge of enabling technologies, systems (e.g., Workday) and processes, ensuring high quality service delivery.
  • Responsible for collaborating with APAC People Services team to understand and implement processes, focusing on employee experience and continuous improvement of compensation & benefits processes.
  • As part of Continuous Improvement, be part of (one or more) Capability Expert Communities (SME role) to bring in the People Services perspective in the overall maintenance and improvement of HR Capabilities. Be an ambassador of the HR transformation and adoption of the HR Service Delivery Model with the business, act as a role model.
