In this role, you have the opportunity to make life better


The Category Manager is accountable to initiate, organize and implement breakthrough Category Strategies, Programs and Policies for the assigned Category spend and related Supply Base to ensure optimum Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), Quality, Delivery, Sustainability and Innovation. Accountable to align Category Governance and Strategy with all nominated B/R/F stakeholders.


You are responsible for


  • Develop breakthrough cost category strategies building on Business and Region Strategies, Functional Strategies and deep market insights gained from regional teams and strong external network


  • Creates intelligence regarding Category related trends and technologies to design optimum sourcing footprint


  • Organizes, implements and drives process efficiency by leveraging standard work, service providers (internal/external) and scaling effects


  • Actively develop and deploy a thoughtful communication plan by employing multiple channels to ensure that the Cost Category vision, objectives and strategy is well understood and supported by all critical stakeholders in the organization


  • Define value drivers and spend parameters to enable most effective spend target setting/planning. Manages the relationship with the functional counterpart(s) in close alignment with the respective Business & Regional Engagement team.


  • Build, organize and manage cross-functional network in the organization and conduct Fit for Purpose conventions to define Value and Cost drivers, Spend parameters, Quality & Services levels and high-level Funnel opportunities (Price & Quantity)


  • Finalizes and approves Supplier Strategy and Business plan based on defined Category strategies


  • Manages Supplier Relationship, Performance and Contracting based on clear targets and ongoing Business Review Meetings with enterprise / strategic suppliers


  • Determines, owns and digitizes the buying channel for the cost category.


  • Relentlessly drive and monitor Indirect Procurement performance per Cost Category and B/R/F


  • Deliver in compliance with Category KPI, and report performance in line with the agreed measurement metrics


  • Drives DFX continuously, understanding our internal business processes and functional strategies


  • Category Manager driving Category performance on Category Levels 1 & 2 (global)


  • Develop breakthrough category strategies building on Business and Market Strategies, Functional Strategies and deep market insights gained from regional teams and strong external network.


  • Relentlessly challenging the status quo and focus on larger-scale impact by leveraging deep domain insights & benchmarking to develop breakthrough Category Strategies and Funnel opportunities. Creates business cases in conjunction with project managers and SME


To succeed in this role, you’ll need a customer-first attitude and the following


  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent.


  • Desired: Separate expert level certifications in LEAN/ Six sigma, functional/category area, Business Partner training.


  • Minimum: 15 years global experience, preferably as Commodity Manager with global responsibility; 2-3 years’ employment abroad


  • Desired: Several years' cross-functional experience from employment in neighboring functional areas; Several years’ consulting and/or Program Management experience
