This role is for an experienced audit professional to join the Commercial and Investment Banking Business Audit Team reporting regionally into Audit Manager or Director outside India.


Job Summary


The India Commercial and Investment Banking Audit team is responsible for assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of the control environment of the Markets business activities across regions. This is achieved through a risk based program of audit coverage performed and managed by a team of business and technology audit specialists and coordinated on a global basis with colleagues in other regions.


As a Commercial Investment Banking - Markets - Audit Associate in our Internal Audit group, you will be part of audit engagement to perform, execute and document audit testing, partner closely with global Audit colleagues and business stakeholders, and use judgment to strengthen internal controls. The role provides the opportunity to develop a detailed understanding of Commercial and Investment Banking Markets business, specifically Commodities, Currencies and Emerging Markets, Digital Markets, Credit Trading and Securitized Product Group businesses, including electronic trading. 


Job Responsibilities


  1. Participate in all aspects of audit activities including risk assessments, audit planning, audit testing, control evaluation, issue drafting, and follow up and verification of issue closure, in close partnership with and support of senior auditors and/or audit managers, and ensuring audit assignments are completed timely and within budget.
  2. Work closely with global Markets audit colleagues in the early identification of emerging control issues and reporting them timely to Audit management and business stakeholders.
  3. Meet deliverables and adhering to department standards.
  4. Stay up-to-date with evolving industry changes and market events impacting Markets business.
  5. Develop recommendations to strengthen internal controls and improve operational efficiency
  6. Take ownership of self-development, including stretch assignments, to prepare for greater responsibilities and career growth, and take initiative to seek out opportunity for continued learning
  7. Implement and execute an effective program of continuous auditing for assigned areas, including monitoring of key metrics to identify control issues and adverse trends.
  8. Stay up-to-date with evolving industry/regulatory developments impacting the business.
  9. Demonstrate and maintain technical competency.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills


  1. Minimum 5 years of internal or external auditing experience, or relevant business experience.
  2. Minimum Bachelor's degree (or relevant financial services experience) 
  3. Ability to operate as an effective auditor, you will have a solid understanding of internal control concepts and the ability to evaluate and determine the adequacy of controls for a given set of risks
  4. Experience with internal audit methodology and applying concepts in audit delivery and execution
  5. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; adept at presenting complex and sensitive issues to senior management
  6. Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to establish credibility and build partnerships with senior business and control partners, while also influencing the actions of the business to improve its control environment.
  7. Strong analytical skills, particularly in regard to assessing the probability and impact of an internal control weakness
  8. Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively and drive efficiency with existing technical infrastructure through automation while embracing the innovative opportunities offered by new technologies

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills


  1. Chartered Accountant or equivalent, Certified Internal Auditor, and/or Advanced Degree in Finance or Accounting 
  2. Relevant working experience in Markets business.
