About the Role

The Collections Management and Acquisition Team is a division within the Publishing Performance & Intelligence group providing expertise and dedicated resources to support the growth of good quality content in Collections across the SN Journal portfolio.


The Collection Editor will work with publishers, editors, Guest Editors and our operational partners to organize and manage collections on behalf of Springer Journals portfolio. They will be responsible for the execution of Collection strategy and the delivery of tasks in the end-to-end Collection workflow to ensure the publication of good-quality articles and a robust research integrity process, as well as to provide Guest Editors and authors a good editorial and publishing experience in Springer Nature Collections.


Role Responsibilities:


  • Ensure the high-standard of research integrity process implemented in the Collection workflow


  • Build and leverage relationships with internal and external editorial communities


  • Participate in the development of new technology aimed at solving complex topic modeling problems


  • Partner with our journals’ editorial teams so that Collections strategy is congruent with journal development plans and is translated into a consistent flow of opening and closing Collections, whilst ensuring the editorial teams retain ownership of their journals’ content


  • Identify and engage with Guest Editors by inviting them to edit a Collection


  • Orchestrate the training of Guest Editors


  • Project management of live collections and provide regular reports on the performance of Collections 


  • Enhanced oversight to ensure service and quality and key escalation point


  • Monitor turn around times (TATs) of submissions


  • Collaborate with Center of Excellence on continuous workflow optimization and documentation


  • Contact point for Guest Editor throughout the collection and answer queries from Guest Editors and authors to ensure a good experience 


  • Contact of key internal partners including but not limited to Product & Platform Group, Technology, Snapp, production and customer service


  • Add published articles to the collections (only relevant for non-snapp journals).
     


Experience, Skills & Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree minimum


  • Solid experience of journal publishing workflows, specifically around submit to accept


  • Good understanding of publishing ethics and integrity issues


  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written and in person/on the phone


  • Good administrative and organizational skills


  • Strong English skills in written and spoken language


  • Ability to multi-task


  • Has a sound understanding of the balance between operational efficiency and editorial rigor
