Position Title: Technical Lead
Location: PuneSoftware Requirements:
- Proficiency in Mainframe technologies, including COBOL, JCL, CICS, MVS, SORT, and Eztrieve.
- Experience with scheduling tools such as Control M, CA7, TWS, or Job-Track.
- Familiarity with incident management tools, specifically ServiceNow.
Overall Responsibilities:
- Resolve batch abends in VisionPLUS (V+) batches, including JCL, application, and CICS issues.
- Monitor and perform operations for Production and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) batches as requested by the support team.
- Understand V+ batch flow, after-hours processing, and critical job SLAs.
- Collaborate with multiple teams during critical activities and process requests promptly.
- Debug basic issues and provide solutions when jobs abend or issues arise.
- Work independently following knowledge transfer, escalating unresolved issues in a timely manner.
Category-wise Technical Skills:
Mainframe Operations:
- 5+ years of experience in Mainframe operations, specifically in batch processing and region issues.
- Knowledge of JCL, VSAM, COBOL, and FAS, including abend resolution.
Job Scheduling & Management:
- Hands-on experience with Control M for job scheduling, updating, addition, deletion, and new batch scheduling.
- Experience with CHG/Dress Rehearsal activities.
Incident Management:
- Familiarity with managing priority and crisis calls.
- Experience with incident management processes and tools (e.g., ServiceNow).
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Mainframe operations with a strong focus on batch processing and production support.
- Prior experience in a production support environment is preferred.
Day-to-Day Activities:
- Monitor batch jobs and resolve any abends or issues that arise during processing.
- Collaborate with application teams to understand requests and perform necessary activities accurately.
- Participate in shift rotations, including morning, evening, and night shifts.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
- Participate in critical activity collaborations to ensure timely processing of requests.
- Provide updates on job statuses and escalate issues as needed.
Qualifications:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working under pressure and handling urgent issues.
- A proactive attitude towards learning and professional development.
