We are looking for self-sufficient full-time software engineers with a strong desire to build high-quality, long-lasting workflows. The VLSI Productivity and Infrastructure team supports hundreds of chip design engineers by building internal tools and platforms that supercharge their everyday work. From build automation to machine learning, databases to web applications, and on-prem compute to cloud workloads, this team handles it all!
Although every member of our team is multi-faceted, the focus for this role is on automating workflows for user-friendliness, maintainability, and extensibility. You will work closely with chip designers to thoroughly understand their daily work and help standardize, automate and improve their process, which will then be deployed using our custom build system. You won't be designing chips or running hardware flows (except to test your automation). On a typical day, you might work with both legacy and new systems in Perl, Python, and Make, using Perforce and Gitlab to deploy your work. You should also be proactive in improving our own team's productivity, championing software development best-practices, and sharing that knowledge with the larger team. If you embrace abstraction and have an intuition for decomposing ambiguous, highly coupled systems, we believe you will fit right in.
What you will be doing:
Responsible for current and next-generation workflow automation for VLSI chip engineers
Design, develop, deploy, and improve highly scalable, long shelf-life workflows and automation platforms for compute and memory-heavy workloads
Deconstruct user workflows into actionable tasks and plan a pathway to automation
What we need to see:
M.S. CS/related (or equivalent experience) with 2+ years developing engineering-facing workflows in an enterprise setting
Solid programming fundamentals in algorithms/data structures with a multi-year history of maintaining platforms in production
EDA / C++ Tools development experience is a plus
Excellent grasp of polyglot systems and the intertwining of workflows and UNIX processes, concurrency and load-balancing
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
Experience seeking and solving problems in partitioning and optimizing existing interconnected systems
Understand NFS and job-scheduling within the constraints of IT-managed LSF infrastructure
Exposure to Perl, Make and VLSI flows, alongside robust design ideals
With industry-leading salaries and a generous benefits package, we are widely considered to be one of the technology world’s most desirable employers. The most forward-thinking engineers in the world do their life’s work at NVIDIA. If you're creative and autonomous, with a real passion for technology, we want to hear from you!
