The Business Manager, Central Asia is responsible for business in the Central Asia region and is expected to grow revenue and awareness of Abcam’s broad product range. This role will focus on Distributor management and maximizing operational efficiency in Abcam’s Central Asia business, with a secondary focus on direct customer and KOL engagement. This is an exceptional opportunity to broaden sales experience, support our exciting growth ambition to drive business growth and improve value creation


This position reports to the Commercial General Manager, JAPAC and is part of the JAPAC Commercial team located in India and will be remote. At Abcam, our vision is to be the most influential life sciences company for researchers worldwide.


In this role, you will have the opportunity to:


  • Develop a long-term sales strategy for Distribution partners to maximize growth opportunities, agreeing annual performance plan with Distribution partners including regular review and course correction if required
  • Prioritize sharing of end user data from Distribution Partners to enable Abcam and the Distribution partners to identify coverage gaps and better understand end user profile to generate more demand
  • Develop Abcam’s value proposition for Distribution partners, support training of Distributor partners sales & marketing teams, communicate Abcam’s value proposition to end users through Abcam and Distribution Partners marketing materials, promotions and events
  • Developing a deep understanding of Biotech & Pharma accounts, identifying key strategic business relationships through active conference participation and regular joint visits with Distribution partners
  • Create annual business plan and lead the creation of Key Account plans for named accounts, maximizing commercial opportunities in the short and long term

The essential requirements of the job include:


  • MSc or Ph.D. in Biology or related fields
  • More than three years of experience in managing Distribution Partners in the Life Science market, ideally within APAC region
  • Excellent in managing customer relationships both at scientific end-user level, decision making level and procurement levels
  • Possess a proven track record of driving business growth and competitive differentiation with a strong customer orientation
  • Have first class oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal, relationship building and presentation skills in English

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:


  • Ability to travel 50-75% of time, within APAC region and to global sites if required
