The Strategy Transformation and Capabilities team supports the Global Services Group and the company as a whole by leading the strategy development, process design & engineering and product support for all GSG servicing and credit functions. The team devises and implements strategies that deliver on our key goals of the best customer experience, improving operational efficiency, driving revenue, and minimizing operational risk.


We are seeking a highly motivated Business Logic Developer within our organization who is ready to put the customer first and helps enable exemplary end-to-end customer journeys understanding.  The selected individual will join the GDM Business Rules Organization and will help architect, code and ship software that helps exceed the vision to build best in class Disputes and Fraud Experience for our customers, merchants and customer care professionals. The individual will work within a team of highly passionate professionals who are responsible for global standardization, development and maintenance of highly complex business rules supporting the Global Servicing Group at American Express.


How will you make an impact in this role?


This role is accountable for understanding and translating business requirements into code. The individual should not only understand how technology works, but how that technology intersects with the people who count on it every day. The individual will be responsible to plan, configure, test, implement, monitor and document as appropriate the business configurable aspects of the Global Disputes Platform. The successful candidate will also work closely with the Product Owners, Technology, Partner Management and other key stakeholders. 


Generally, the role will entail the following responsibilities:


  • Works in a scrum team environment with Scrum Master, Product Owner and peers to develop and deploy logic
  • The right candidate will be comfortable with developing, testing, deploying, and supporting secure software products, as well as extending or migrating existent software products. A growth mind-set, ability to learn fast, prioritize, and make decisions within the scope of responsibilities are key to this role.
  • Reports into daily stand-ups noting progress and/or impediments
  • Collaborating with team members to design and implement software.
  • Testing and documenting software.
  • Learning and applying coding best practices.
  • Participating and Driving code reviews.
  • Deploy understands the impact of logic to cardmembers and performs unit and end-to-end testing
  • Participates and contributes in scrum show and tell, grooming, and retrospectives
  • Attends program increment (PI) planning, collaborates on story pointing and accepts story assignment
  • Will be responsible to evaluate user requests to determine feasibility, cost and time required to meet customer needs.
  • Assisting in the support including troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Ensuring software solutions have no security vulnerabilities.
  • Ensuring software solutions are resilient.
  • Contributing to overall secure software development lifecycle.
  • Keeping up to date with industry trends and technologies.
  • Will be responsible to observe, evaluate and detect logic errors during program test, replace and modify to correct errors.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or any other related engineering discipline.
  • Good understanding of programming software/tools– PEGA, JAVA, SQL, JavaScript (ReactJS, NodeJS),  HTML, CSS, Postman, Tableau, Servicenow
  • Experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • GCP, Hadoop, PySpark, Hive & Cornerstone, Hadoop.
  • Experience with data modeling and data engineering
  • Experience with GitHub, Jenkins (or equivalent), CI/CD, Putty, WinScp, Postman, Tableau/PowerBI/or equivalent, ServiceNow, Informatica
  • Good grasp of various iterative methodologies: Agile, RUP, SAFe Scrum
  • Curiosity and hunger to know how things work and ability to use that knowledge to find enhancement opportunities
  • Experience with the Testing Lifecycle, Unit Testing, SIT, Regression Testing, UAT.
  • Experience with Secure Software Development Lifecycle
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Generative AI applied to coding and testing
