About the role: Amazon's Global Finance Services (GFS) team is a fast-paced, team-focused, dynamic environment and delivering great experiences for our customers is top priority. GFS is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer to support our Amazon Music finance team.
As an Amazon Business Intelligence Engineer you will be working in one of the world's largest and most complex data warehouse environments. You should have deep experience in the design, creation, management, and business use of large datasets. You should have excellent business and communication skills to be able to work with business owners to develop and define key business questions, and to build data sets that answer those questions. You should be good at designing, implementing, and operating stable, scalable, low cost solutions to flow data from production systems into the data warehouse and into end-user facing applications. You should be able to work with business customers in understanding the business requirements and implementing reporting solutions.
The person will need to effectively communicate across all levels and be self-motivated to raise the bar on deriving insights from analytics and identify opportunities to delight the customers. Above all you should be passionate about bringing large datasets together to answer business questions and drive change.
This person will own the production and delivery of suite of analytics reports and dashboards used by the organization to make key business decisions. This will involve:
1) Delivery of standardized performance metrics for global customers (Vendors) and stakeholders (Amazon Music finance) providing operational bandwidth to Amazon Music finance teams to focus on business partnering initiatives.
2) Partner with existing BI leader in executing defined roadmap of projects.
3) Provide ad-hoc support to Amazon Music finance and business services for SQL report creation, modification and optimization.
4) Debug report issues, unblock workflows and communicate with other teams and stakeholders by providing regular status updates.
Tools used include:
1. SQL (Oracle and Redshift)
2. ETL tools (internal)
3. Excel
4. Data visualization tools (Tableau/PowerBI/QuickSight)
5. Report scheduling tools (internal)
6. Scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, or R)
- 2+ years of experience as an analyst or engineer in the data/BI space
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quick sight, or similar tools
- 2+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc.
- Experience with any scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, or R)
- Retrieve and analyze data using SQL, Excel, and other data management systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related fields
- 4 to 5 years of relevant work experience of SQL
- Knowledge of data modeling and data pipeline design
- Experience with advanced analytics techniques such as regression, classification, text analytics etc.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and rapidly-changing environment with experience managing multiple priorities and projects
- Excellent written, verbal, listening and communication skills
- Team player - FP&A experience to develop forecasting models, and report variance against goals will be an added advantage
