Reuters is seeking a Business Analyst to join our News Production team in Toronto. Our News Production team drives the rapidly evolving and strategic technology initiatives of Reuters News, one of the world's most trusted news organizations.
As a Business Analyst, you will provide the business and technical analysis that helps drive the delivery of our newsroom's technology solutions. You'll be an integral part of the software development life-cycle and will work on identifying, defining, and building capabilities that add value to our editorial tools and services, which support the entire editorial workflow for Reuters News journalists around the globe. Additionally, you'll also have the chance to implement new features and expanding the product offering for our existing clients, whilst ensuring that our current product suite is functioning correctly through regular testing and maintenance of our systems.
About the role:
Support the Product Owner in ensuring on-time and in-scope delivery of the roadmap.
Capture, articulate and drive requirements by working closely with business stakeholders
Collect, analyze and synthesize data to support the requirements. Translate into detailed technology needs, formal specifications, KPIs and technical solutions as required
Manage expectations of stakeholders on new development work and ongoing support activities, as well as act as a point of contact for any related queries
Collaborate closely with Development, QA, DevOps and Project Management teams to ensure all requirements are understood and can be delivered effectively
Identify project and delivery dependencies across teams and line-up deliveries appropriately
Own and maintain user stories and requirements that will drive the development and testing
About You:
You're a fit for the role of Business Analyst at Thomson Reuters if you:
Have excellent technical and analytical skills, gained through demonstrable experience within a prior software development or business analysis position.
Want to develop your existing skills and take initiative to deliver great results. We're looking for someone with the ability to quickly learn new content subject areas and apply technology solutions to them to benefit our newsrooms.
Have demonstrable experience of writing and testing functional and non-functional software requirements, whilst work on multiple tasks and projects, prioritizing as required.
Have great analytical and problem-solving skills. We're looking for someone with the ability to deconstruct activities into manageable tasks and prioritize the scheduling of both development initiatives and defect fixes.
Are highly-organized with the ability to engage and collaborate with colleagues across the globe.
Experience with Agile software development.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with competency in collaboration, stakeholder management and negotiation.
Drive, initiative and the ability to work unsupervised when required.
Previous exposure to news production or financial/risk content or generative AI would be advantageous but is not required.
