What you will be doing
- Processes and files benefits enrollment forms and related information.
- Maintains benefits records.
- Verifies dependent eligibility.
- Answers telephone and email inquiries from employees regarding benefits.
- Counsels and assists employees regarding benefits, eligibility, open enrollment, basic inquiries, and procedures.
- Processes terminations from plans and notifications to COBRA Administrator.
- Assists employees with problem claims and/or appeals.
- Maintains vendor contact to investigate discrepancies and provide information in non-routine situations.
- Assists in preparing materials and presenting benefit plan changes to employees.
- Helps ensure compliance with all governmental regulations related to benefits programs, including ERISA reporting and disclosure requirements, FMLA, HIPAA.
- Other related duties assigned as needed.
What you bring:
- Knowledge of health and welfare benefits and retirement plans
- Knowledge of human resources standard concepts, practices and procedures including, but not limited to, disability programs, welfare programs, FMLA, HIPAA, and ERISA
- Knowledge of the use of office equipment required by the position, e.g., personal computer, fax machine, 10-key adding machine
- Knowledge of general office procedures
- Skill in appropriate telephone and email etiquette
- Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret complex instructions, policies, procedures and correspondence
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to maintain a professional and courteous image
- Ability to compile and report business information
- Ability to accurately and efficiently type, format and produce reports, charts, graphs, and other general correspondence using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software packages
- Ability to sequence and monitor multiple activities for self and others
- Attention to detail in making appointments and maintaining forms, records, etc.
- Ability to apply analytical and decision-making capabilities to apply benefit policies and company philosophy to working situations
- Ability to prioritize work, handle details accurately and follow up with minimum supervision
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, vendors and public
