We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Description Summary:

What do you need to know about the role
The Developer Platform Engineering (DPE) team is seeking a highly resourceful and motivated platform engineer to join our existing team and help us rollout the next generation of PayPal’s Developer Productivity Platform. We are looking for an individual who can help us design, rollout & maintain a scalable and reliable CI/CD solution. As a Platform Engineer on our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our core infrastructure and services and also integrate best-in-class vendor tooling. You will work closely with our application developers, cloud-engineers and other stakeholders to ensure our platform is scalable, reliable, and efficient.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

• Platform Development: Build and maintain scalable platform infrastructure that supports multiple applications and services.
• Process Automation: Implement and manage automation tools for continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, configuration management, and system monitoring.
• Vendor Tool Integration: Integrate vendor tools with the existing systems ecosystem using automation and configuration.
• Performance Optimization: Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize platform performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Platform Hardening: Ensure the platform meets security standards and complies with relevant regulations.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand platform requirements and provide technical solutions that meet business needs.
• Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for platform architecture, processes, and procedures.
• Innovation: Research and implement new technologies and tools to enhance the platform's capabilities and performance.
• Agile Practice: Participate in Agile Events (sprint planning, epic & user story grooming, sprint demo, and retrospective)

Qualifications:

• Experience: 5-7 years of experience in Backend Development, Platform Engineering, DevOps, or related roles.
• Technical Skills:
  • Strong proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Backend Development experience in Java
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools, particularly Terraform
  • Proficiency with cloud platforms, particularly Google Cloud or AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g., Jenkins, Harness, Argo, etc).
  • Must Have: Experience with Harness CI.
  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Working knowledge in GitHub, JFrog Artifactory, Confluence and ServiceNow
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., DataDog, Splunk, etc).
  • Working knowledge in SonarQube
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills focused on delivering robust solutions.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
