The Role: Backend Developer Java


The Team:


You will be part of the growing global Data Delivery team. The team is part of the Market Intelligence division and is responsible for aggregating data from different sources in and outside of S&P Global that is ultimately delivered to external customers. Our services must be available, scalable, fast and reliable. To achieve this, we are making use of messaging technologies and in-memory caching for large data sets in a distributed cloud environment.

Responsibilities:


The role includes work on data modelling, architecture, business logic, deployment and release processes, infrastructure as a service, requirements gathering, user interfaces and quality assurance.


Data Delivery has implemented a continuous integration process and continuous delivery process.


It is a unique and challenging role that calls for a strong passion for quality and technology, while providing an immense opportunity to design and develop wide-reaching code.


As a member of the scrum team, you can analyze business requirements and scenarios and translate them into robust design, code and tests.


You will work together with highly experienced professionals, who value the success of the company and its entrepreneurial culture.


The team uses an agile development process, which includes test-driven development, continuous integration and delivery, and a highly iterative release cycle. The team carefully selects and extends its toolset in order to improve productivity. Tools which are currently in use include Java 17/21, Guice, Junit 5, Mockito, GitLab, Kafka, MongoDB, React, Terraform, PagerDuty, Swagger and fully runs in AWS.


What We’re Looking For:


  • We are looking for people with a passion for programming, software engineering excellence and an eye for detail.
  • interest in the field of distributed high concurrency systems or a talented programmer with the ability to learn quickly. Fluency in Java is expected.
  • A core component of the role is the ability to comprehend complex requirements, relating back your understanding to both peers and the Product owner, resulting in the production of elegant software solutions.
  • A good standard of English, both written and spoken is a given.
  • And a recognized academic background in computer science is a big plus.
  • Familiarity with the financial services industry is advantageous.
