Job Description:


We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Automation Control System Specialist to support our talented team in developing innovative automation, and machine control systems. As a key member of our automation team responsible for our Pyro products, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and optimization of machine control solutions for our projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in ensuring the successful delivery of complex engineering projects for various customers, using safety PLC’s.  Strategic thinking and technical expertise in automation engineering are essential for this role.  The role is based out of our Valby, Denmark, Salt Lake City, Utah or Allentown, Pennsylvania office locations. 


Department Description:


The main duty of the automation engineering department is to provide machine controls packages for new capital projects. The group has a global presence, with skills in complying with industry and regulatory standards around the world. 
 


Responsibilities:


  • Drive the design and development of automation and machine control systems, from concept to production, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineering, software development, project management, and others, to achieve integrated and successful project outcomes.


  • Prepare, review, and approve design drawings & specifications, Functional Safety Description, Safety Requirement Specification, IO list and support IOM/OEM manual creation.


  • Program Safety System and standard PLC architecture, SCADA and MIMIC development.


  • Potential for onsite debugging safety and standard hardware & software, and travel to customer and consultant offices (domestic and global) for project review meetings.


  • Support Factory/Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT), in collaboration with field service personnel.


  • Support and potentially facilitate Hazard and Operability Study for customer sites.


  • Assist in development of design standards /guides, guide specifications, and design control procedures.


  • Support the implementation of automation engineering roadmap and strategies to meet project objectives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices.


  • Oversee the evaluation and selection of components, technologies, and suppliers to optimize system performance and cost-effectiveness.


  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, identifying and mitigating risks to ensure successful project delivery.


  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in electrical and controls engineering, and incorporate relevant innovations into our projects.


  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, promoting efficiency, quality, and innovation within the electrical and automation engineering team.


What you bring


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; Electrical, Instrumentation or Automation engineering specialty preferred. 


  • Proven experience track record of successful project delivery.


  • Technical expertise in electrical, instrumentation and machine controls system design, PLC programming, industrial automation, and market trends.


  • Proficiency in Safety Integrity Level (SIL).


  • Knowledge of Safety international standards ISO-13577, Australian AS-3814, IEC61511, and US HFPA 85/86 will have an added advantage.


  • Proficient in understanding Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).


  • Programming / testing for Rockwell/ Siemens / Schneider PLC and safety systems.


  • Experience in Industrial Protocols like Modbus, Ethernet, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, DeviceNet, etc.


  • Basic knowledge in ACAD/E Plan and similar tools


  • Relevant site installation and commissioning experience.


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.


  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.


  • Project management skills, including experience with project planning, resource allocation, and risk management.


  • Commitment to fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and professional development within the team.
