Job Description:


The PACO Associate reliability Engineer will support projects and improvement activities within assigned operating units to implement Shell's Asset Management System (AMS). This system provides a unified framework for managing production assets, focusing on the Manage Equipment Care (MEC) process. By applying a risk-based approach, the engineer will define and optimize maintenance strategies that enhance equipment reliability and contribute to business objectives. Responsibilities include preparing and assessing maintenance strategies, prioritizing work, troubleshooting issues, and proposing technical solutions in coordination with stakeholders.


Responsibilities:


  • Analyze maintenance activities for pumps, compressors, turbines, and various control systems by reviewing OEM manuals, task lists, maintenance reports, and engaging in technical discussions with site maintenance leads and vendors.


  • Involves performing engineering tasks related to instrumentation technology, including flow, level, temperature, pressure measurement, and valve sizing/selection.


  • Identify opportunities for unit performance enhancement and reliability risk mitigation, working collaboratively with area teams to implement cost-effective solutions.


  • Conducting and supporting investigations of instrumentation failures or incidents to derive actionable insights and improvements is also a key aspect of the role.


  • Contribute to and support the implementation of instrumentation scope during turnarounds, ensuring effective planning and execution, while providing remote assistance on asset engineering activities, ensuring compliance with quality assurance and thorough record-keeping.

The PACO Reliability Engineer will manage technical data and documentation across various operational contexts, including manufacturing sites and distribution locations. This role requires effective engagement with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management, to address both technical and operational challenges. The engineer will confidently operate in a virtual environment and identify continuous improvement opportunities to enhance organizational value.


Skills & Requirements


  • Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control, Electronics or a related field, with less than 5 years of relevant experience in Control & Automation Engineering and a solid understanding of maintenance processes in the oil and gas or petrochemical industries.


  • Familiarity with instrumentation and controls, including field instruments, control systems (DCS, IPS), and various communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus) is essential.


  • The ideal candidate will possess problem-solving skills, demonstrating the ability to independently research and implement innovative solutions, as well as strong written and verbal communication abilities in English, comfortable using various digital communication tools.


  • Cultural adaptability and a proven ability to engage effectively across diverse settings are also important.

The role involves navigating complex business processes and managing stakeholder engagement in a virtual environment, requiring initiative to identify and resolve business and technical issues.
