You will be leading a team of engineers skilled in enterprise search technologies, managing the solutions they deliver through program initiatives and BAU services. As a lead, you are expected to collaborate within IGNITE and other BTGs to deliver advanced search capabilities using AI technologies and mentor the team to deliver best-in-class solutions. You will also oversee BAU services and ensure service delivery excellence with adherence to policies and standards.
Overseeing the delivery of search services, including information retrieval, search optimization, and RAG solutions to meet the demands of BTGs.
Managing BAU services, ensuring SLAs are met, zero downtime, and data privacy and security are given the highest priority.
Leading a team of search services professionals, providing guidance and support, ensuring process adherence, and mentoring to ensure the team's success.
Collaborating with internal stakeholders to understand their search demands, engaging with solutions architects for design, and delivering solutions through the engineering team.
Monitoring the performance of search services, analyzing data, and identifying areas for improvement or optimization.
Identifying opportunities for process improvement, automation, or innovation within search services.
Ensuring Platform Engineering solutions align with both Enterprise and Solution Architecture standards and strategy, including those related to security, monitoring, governance, and compliance.
Evaluating new technology products and services, providing recommendations regarding fit and prioritization within capability roadmaps.
Leading, mentoring, and coaching Platform Engineering teams to drive quality and ensure successful outcomes.
Maintaining expert understanding of and adherence to software engineering processes within AstraZeneca.
Bachelors in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
15+ years of experience in a software engineering role, 5+ years of experience in leading search solutions team.
Solid knowledge of search technologies, including search engines, indexing, and retrieval mechanisms.
Clear understanding of how security is implemented, early binding, late binding of search results, data privacy regulations.
Hands-on experience with any of the cloud technologies like AWS, Azure or GCP.
Proficiency in working with enterprise search platforms such as Sinequa, Elasticsearch, Google, Azure cognitive search etc.
Knowledge of information retrieval principles, natural language processing, and machine learning techniques as they relate to search services.
Exposure to IT landscape in highly regulated environments.
Understanding of cloud security principles implemented via identity and access controls.
Experience working within an Agile/Scrum development methodology.
Proven experience working with complex integrated systems, using creative and strategic thinking to deliver exceptional results.
Experience running a global IT Delivery & Service Management team with demonstrated ability to influence Senior Leaders and the direction of the business.
Extensive hands-on experience working in Software Development, Engineering, Testing, and Release Management.
