Job Description

Overview This role will lead Cloud Operations and governance for a variety of cloud platforms. The candidate will focus on enabling a secured and highly reliable and supportable cost-effective modern computing environment on the cloud that is leveraged globally. It will need to be properly secured, highly scalable and resilient, and will significantly improve the speed of deploying new solutions. Towards that effort, the employee will be accountable for the following responsibilities: * Lead working sessions across all teams to collaborate to define and implement the governance model and best practices guidelines for both Azure as well as smaller footprints in AWS, GCP, etc. * Partner with external providers in execution of pro-active and re-active support for both Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS offerings) * Operationalize the required technology foundations and processes in a hybrid multi-cloud environment * Provide input into budget and resources for cloud operational support * Support ongoing KPIs measuring compliance for security and operational processes, SLAs, new service offerings, etc. Responsibilities Define and measure success criteria and KPI definitions, value realization tracking and reporting. Define requirements for implementation of SRE and hyper-automation to reduce manual effort in operational support as well as prevent unplanned business impact Collaborate with architecture/engineering team members, automation team members, FinOPS team, Information Security Team, and others to execute support, and cloud hosting provider teams Assist with detailed plans, estimate efforts, and define the required work for execution of any remediation Partner with subject matter experts / managed service partners to create and execute migration run books. Provides interface, communication and coordination across internal and strategic partner team(s) Ensure appropriate Subject Matter Expert (SME) engagement across teams and strategic partner(s) Program level status reporting and risk management Use troubleshooting skills and work closely across multiple internal and external teams Lead identification of risks, actions, and issues through proactive communication and collaboration with stakeholders and various teams Support High Availability / Disaster Recovery implementation / testing / execution Qualifications A leader with strong communications and organizational skills with the ability to deal with ambiguity while juggling multiple priorities and projects at the same time 10 - 15 years of related IT business work experience 3+ years of experience in implementing / supporting systems in cloud (Azure / AWS / GCP) 3 years of relevant experience in cloud infrastructure principles and methodologies 3 years of relevant experience with Infrastructure delivery and/or operations Mandatory 'Technical' Skills Experience working in a multi-cloud environment with demonstrated experience leading cloud deployment projects (including cloud native development and migration) Solid understanding of Containerization and Virtualization technologies such as VMWare, docker Experience working with Azure DevOps or similar tools for tracking, developing, deploying software Experience with Configuration, migration and deployment efforts related to Azure or AWS IaaS/PaaS Technologies Experience operating complex multi-datacenter, multi-cluster environment and a strong understanding of multi-tenancy and security Experience with hosting enterprise class SQL, NoSQL, and Big Data DBs Experience in license management, and measuring utilization and compliance Experience in hybrid multi-cloud environment – both IaaS and PaaS offerings Experience in cost estimation for cloud hosting (including both cloud hosting costs and software licensing) Experience in the various migration methods (5R’s or 6R’s, depending on the methodology that you follow: rehost, re-platform, rearchitect, refactor, revise, rebuild, replace/repurchase/retire, retain) A working understanding of code and script such as: Shell and PowerShell, Python and Perl Preferred: Solid understanding of networking concepts (BGP, DNS, Load Balancing, firewall and core Internet), including CDN Mandatory 'Non-Technical' Skills Support operations readiness reviews for going live with applications running in the cloud Support identification and requirements gathering for new tools and services to improve operational support Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills Experience with Agile and Hybrid development and deployment projects Agile or other project management certification is a plus Solves complex, politically sensitive problems across teams Experience with managing a hybrid multi-cloud environment Strong analytical skills to support problem troubleshooting, resolution, and root cause determination to complex technology issues Ability to thrive in a fast pace and demanding work environment. Strong documentation skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical personnel Good collaboration and partnership skills to foster key relationships with other technology, application and business teams Solid foundation in IT operational concepts and procedures
