IRAS Risk Associate


The Risk Associate will support the daily, monthly and quarterly ex-ante risk reporting process for asset owner clients. The role is consultative in nature and the successful applicant must be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and technical knowledge of ex-ante risk analysis. The role requires competent client servicing skills as well as presentation of the client risk reports, associated analytical framework, an element of cross sell of Northern Trust analytical tools where appropriate.
Major Duties


  • Manages the end to end process of data management, quality reviews and reporting of ex-ante risk reports to the client.
  • Consults with clients and acts as the technical expert on risk management and analysis concepts and communicates how these concepts apply to the client’s  investment programs.
  • Understanding client needs, and positioning the right risk solutions for potential/new clients.
  • On-boarding new clients to our risk systems.
  • Communicates with multiple constituents to ensure client satisfaction including clients, client's investment managers and team members on a regular basis.
  • Develops and makes client presentations explaining the bank's risk analysis services, new product, determines client reporting needs and discusses alternatives for meeting these needs.
  • Research better ways to model non-publicly traded asset classes into the risk system.
  • Collaborates with internal team and external divisions of NT to build solutions, cross-sell and on-board new clients.


Knowledge/Skills


  • Strong Analytical skills & highly numerate.
  • Previous Investment risk experience, preferably leveraging market leading risk analytics provider (MSCI BarraOne, Riskmetrics, etc)
  • Significant knowledge of investments (public and private markets, derivatives), asset allocation analysis, attribution, and industry related subject matter such as mandates, laws, regulations, and economic conditions that impact investments.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage deadlines.
  • Flexible approach / Good team player.
  • Strong consulting, problem definition and solution delivery experience.
  • Proven client relationship experience.
  • Good knowledge of financial markets, investment instruments and portfolio management.
  • Broad knowledge of performance methodology, including Equity and Fixed Income attribution.
  • Works well under pressure, self-motivated and pro-active problem solver


Experience


24 months as Senior Analyst
5-7 years of investment experience, with exposure to fundamental risk analysis


  • Client serving experience preferred
  • Progression towards certifications like CFA, FRM, Actuarial Sciences or masters in Statistics or Mathematics.
