Responsibilities

• Responsible for single or multiple major project initiatives, from inception to production; develops new technologies, methods, and processes to meet the objectives of the company.

• Owns/designs/architects one or more large subsystems.

• Contributes to interdepartmental and external schedules and for delivery of projects within the overall time frame and budget established jointly with management.  Contributes to/influences strategic plans.

• Leads by example the automation and implementation of highly available and resilient platforms in public clouds, without manual or direct intervention

• Anticipates problems well in advance, proposes solutions, and drives to conclusion.  An escalation point and expert in leading investigation/resolution of complex technical problems across the Informatics global estates.

• Researches, drives innovation and leads efforts to apply relevant industry concepts and technologies in the department.  Evaluates industry solutions, Drives internal collaborations and able to present key technical recommendations while considering business needs with cross-functional teams.

• Executes processes to develop and mentor talent; provides feedback, instruction, and development guidance to help others excel in their current or future job responsibilities;

• Demonstrates a "one company" approach; discourages "we-they" thinking; Integrates and aligns efforts across functions and locations; fosters collaboration across functions and locations; removes barriers to teamwork; anticipates and works to resolve potential or emerging conflicts; actively involves others in shaping plans and decisions that affect them

• Continuously takes initiative to develop further technical expertise and team building, negotiation, and communication skills.

• Champions and creates mindshare on best practices, necessity of design, configuration, and change documentation for knowledge transfer, security compliance, and quality system processes

Requirements

Most listed requirements are essential at a broad system level or at specialty expertise level(s).

• Expertise in administration, configuration, optimization and monitoring of Linux, related distros, and SAAS infrastructure at scale
• Experience with AWS and/or other public cloud-based deployment/support
• The ability to pick up new technologies quickly and rapidly deep dive
• Advanced knowledge of virtual network design, Internet protocols, and can trouble shoot complex network infrastructure
• Be comfortable speaking with internal customers
• Has a driving need to fix a problem only once?
• Programming/Language skills – bash scripting, Python, GO, SQL, NoSQL, log query languages, or related
• Recognized as an expert in fields important to company.  Drives innovation in scaling, availability, security, and monitoring in one or more of
• Large scale data systems including Relational DBs, ELK, Mongo
• Virtual compute systems, and/or Kubernetes, Docker containers, Hadoop
• Messaging systems including RabbitMQ, Kafka, Service Bus
• Network infrastructure, cyber security controls, and/or other emerging technologies
• Experience in implementing infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform, Ansible, and Cloud Formation

Experience/Education

• Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 12 years and a master’s degree; or equivalent experience
• Technical certifications in public cloud services and/or security related domains
