Project Title Strengthening the coping capacities of children and their communities through knowledge and skill building, preparedness, and mitigation strategies to safeguard them from future disasters.
Background:

Balraksha Bharat also known as Save the Children is one of the organization working for the survival and development of children. Bal Raksha Bharat in India works on 5 core themes: Child Survival, Education, Child Protection, Humanitarian and Disaster and Risk Management in collaboration with the Government, civil societyorganizations, and the community across16 states and has reachedover 3 million


children across India.

Bal Raksha Bharat has been working in the field of disaster response, recovery, disaster risk


reduction and climate change adaptation engaging children, youth, and their communities in rural


and urban contexts. The aim is to ensure that the children and their communities are capacitated


to prepare, deal and respond with any humanitarian crises and also identify risks and resolve


them on time, ensuring they remain safe and any investment in their development remains


protected.



Project Brief:


The proposed initiative aims to strengthen Disaster Preparedness and Resilience in the communities/Schools through the following actions:


1. Children and their Communities are aware of potential risk and hazards related to climatic


shocks and stress and have improved adaptive capability, resilience and access to social security to mitigate their risk and plan for their homes and neighbourhoods.


2.Community institutions like Community centres, schools and Anganwadi centres are


safe and prepared for any future disaster.


3.Enhancing the humanitarian response capacity of the community and ensuring timely


humanitarian assistance during any emergency.


4.Children and their communities and institutions have stronger coordination with


stakeholders and duty-bearers through consultations and interfaces for improved resource access. 




Job Purpose:
The Community Facilitator role will be to coordinate with the community/slum, ICDS and School in the designated location in Hyderabad. He or she will be responsible to coordinate 2 locations minimum. Responsible for day-day facilitation in coordination with the Project coordinator/Lead. The details will be shared in the project orientation/familiarization process.

Experience
  •  1-2 years working experience in functional areasof Disaster Risk Reduction / Emergency Response / Education.
  • 1-2 years of experience working in development sector

Qualifications

Level 1


The role holder will not have contact with children and/or young people, or access to personal data about children or young people, as part of their work;therefore, a police check will not be mandatory unless the content or location of the role changes, in which case the Child Safeguarding level will be reviewed.

Level 2


Either the role holderwill have accessto personal dataabout children and/oryoung people as part of their work; or they will be working in a ‘regulated’ position (accountant, barrister, solicitor, legal executive); therefore, a police check will be required.

Level 3


The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g., once a week or more) or intensively (e.g., four days in one month or more or overnight) becausethey work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

Save the children India employ approximately 300 people across the globe and work on the ground in over 100 countries to help children affected by crises, or those that need better healthcare, education and child protection.
