Assistant HSSE Manager

What this job involves:


To lead implementation of EH&S initiatives on the site & Drive the EH&S compliance programme in the managed facility.


Responsibilities Specific to the Role


  • Custodian of HSSE MS systems as per Client’s management system requirements and application of HSSE management risk.
  • Rolling out HSSE plan annually and specific HSSE plan/KPI are agreed in line with Client plan and sign-off taken from the contract holder.
  • Implementation of the deliverables as per the Contract HSSE Plan requirements.
  • Participate in Leadership Safety Walks and tracking the observations until closure.
  • Providing the support in Internal audits.
  • Measuring time supervisors spend with people,
  • Processes to be developed like Permit to Work, Work at Height, etc
  • SOPs for routine activities to be developed jointly with the Operation team.
  • Learning From Incident sharing to support staff as an awareness session & remedial action plan for the same
  • Controls & Recovery Measures to be identified for high/medium risk activities.
  • Capture risks and control measures as appropriate in the Hazard/ Risk register and share with Client team.
  • Conducting the HSSE training as per the training plan/ other specific requirements.
  • Maintain a legal register for the management and operation of the building (or lease) on behalf of the Client.
  • Report the required HSE statistics, HSE report information requested by the Client.
  • Develop and deliver appropriate HSE induction(s) incorporating Client information; delivered to all contractors and visitors.
  • Participating in the worker consultation programs.
  • Conduct area risk assessments of the areas owned/ leased by Client to determine what management / actions are required in the areas to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Develop (or adopt Client Process) and operate a site Permit to Work Process to co-ordinate all parties’ contractors that conduct work at the location(s), deconflicting work.
  • Develop and implement HSE initiatives, to develop a positive and sustainable culture
  • Manage hazard/ incident reports across the site(s) and to discuss any investigations required with the Client team
  • Ensure First Aid equipment, Fire safety equipment’s and other emergency arrangements is available, sufficient and maintained for the building
  • Deliver duties to manage the building (or areas defined in a lease agreement).
  • Ensure adequate First Aid provision, and facilitation of trained First Aiders for the Building(s)
  • Ensure Fire Risk Assessments are conducted by competent persons and actions discussed/ prioritized with input from Client
  • Develop and maintain legionella risk assessments/ management plans for the location(s) and actions discussed/ prioritized with input from Client

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s or Diploma in the engineering or HSE education field.
  • 5 - 7 years of experience working for HSE or project management.
  • Working knowledge of progressive HSE principles including human factors, industrial psychology as applied to HSE, behavioural safety management principles
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Fluent in English.  Additional advantage if fluent in Tamil & Hindi
