The Role:


S&P Global Commodity Insights’ Apprenticeship Program is a 12-months skill development program. We are seeking candidates who will be working within our Vantage Asset & Portfolio Valuation Team, with a focus on foundational asset valuation data, ensuring the accuracy & reliability of fiscal & commercial data, which is crucial for maintaining the integrity of S&P Global's offerings.


The Team: Upstream Solutions from S&P Global Commodity Insights comprise some of the most extensive and complete information, analytics, insight, and advisory services in the world. We deliver oil and gas databases and software, energy transition, energy supply and demand forecasts, and comprehensive data on transactions at the global and regional market levels.



The Impact:


  • You will be working alongside a team of subject matter experts on oil and gas asset valuation economics, fiscal modelers, experienced researchers and engineers.


  • You will build your knowledge around the wider upstream industry as it, and S&P Global, adapts and evolves with the energy transition.


  • You'll be a key contact for fiscal research supporting the Asset and Portfolio Valuation team.


  • You’ll be a valued member of a forward-thinking team that values innovation, encourages continuous learning and adaptation to new technologies.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop a global dataset of upstream fiscal and commercial terms for upstream oil and gas assets.


  • Implement web scraping techniques to gather data from online sources, such as regulatory filings, industry reports, and news websites, to compile a comprehensive dataset of fiscal and commercial terms.


  • Maintain a structured data schema for the dataset and maintain comprehensive metadata that describes the dataset, including data sources, definitions, formats, transformations and quality indicators.


  • Implement governance frameworks to oversee data management practices, ensuring compliance with regulations and organizational policies.


  • Continuously develop expertise in asset valuation data and expand knowledge into related fields. Stay abreast of current/hot topics and build upon subject matter knowledge.


What We’re Looking For:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field. Recently completed studies will be considered.


  • Knowledge of the upstream oil and gas industry.


  • Highly numerical and analytical with proficiency in Excel and ability to extract data into a structured dataset.


  • Understanding of financial and economic / commercial information from contracts, legislation, company filings, websites etc.


  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, R & SQL and Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) will be preferred.
