What are my responsibilities?
The application engineer’s responsibility is to carry project execution activities in real-time power system applications for SCADA/ADMS for the domestic as well as international projects. The application engineer will be accountable to fulfill the requirements from project technical lead and project manager.
Following are the key roles and responsibilities:
•Understanding customer’s specification during sales support and project execution.
•Technical design document preparation and customer approval.
•Preparing data requirement for engineering and modeling of various equipment from distribution network.
•Modeling for SCADA/ADMS applications in Siemens’s Spectrum Power Product.
•Understanding of GIS integration, analyzing for inconsistencies related to data required for DMS/OMS.
•Analyze and tune Power Flow, State Estimator, Volt Var Control, Short Circuit Calculation, Optimal Feeder Reconfiguration, Fault Location, Isolation and Service Restoration, Switching Procedure Management, Pre-Switching Check, Contingency Analysis, Study Analysis.
•Perform modeling and execution of Outage Management System, Crew Management, Trouble Call Management
•Integration with third party applications like Customer Care, AMI/AMR, Vehicle Tracking Systems, Work Force Management etc. 
•Design, engineering, preparation and execution of Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests and customer approval including testing and commissioning.
•Arranging product demos, delivering the training in Spectrum product applications to customers.
•Testing of features and reporting the bugs in JIRA tool.
•Deploying code patches.
•Delivering the targets while controlling and optimizing the engineering cost.
•Perl, python and sql scripts to automate testing.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
•M. Tech in Power Systems or B.E./B. Tech in Electrical Engineering with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
•Strong power system fundamentals with experience in study and analyzing power system applications.
•Having knowledge in SQL database.
•Knowledge in operating systems Windows, Linux and commands.
•Ability to drive the activities for fulfilling the business targets and self-motivated. Good communication skills, good convincing customer approach.
•Knowledge in operating practices in electrical Utilities.
•Willingness to travel on small frequent or long-term trips – domestic and international.
