American Express entered the travel agency business more than 100 years ago (1915) and today is one of the world’s largest luxury travel and lifestyle service networks. The Travel & Lifestyle Services (TLS) business provides differentiated value, extraordinary service, and unrivaled expertise to Card Members seeking leisure or business travel, as well as a variety of lifestyle/concierge services.


We are seeking an experienced Data Analyst to join the TLS BackOffice team as a part of the TLS Lodging Commissions process where we work with hotel partners across the globe and 3rd party vendors to collect due commissions post cardmember stay is complete. This role will play a critical role in minimizing risk of overpayments through data analytics and close working with the hotels and internal teams.


How will you make an impact in this role?


  • Manage end to end process for lodging commissions payments received by the 3rd party vendor
  • Apply data analytics to identify reasons for payment mismatch and report inconsistencies
  • Review 3rd party vendor payment & booking data for potential areas of improvement or concern 
  • Work closely with Vendor/Global teams to review commission payments processed across all markets
  • Handle data queries from Leadership & Stakeholders
  • Create Reporting Dashboard for Senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Collecting and analyzing data and drawing conclusions with rich quantitative methodology. Deliver trend and data analysis across the reporting suite.
  • Work closely with the relevant teams and experts to develop key messaging and communicate to hotel partners and key stakeholders.
  • Creatively problem solve with very little direction and able to drive initiatives forward independently.
  • Manage ad-hoc projects and prepare updates and strategic presentations

Minimum Qualifications


  • We are looking for someone who has an analytical and agile mindset, leadership skills, data handling experience and excellent written/verbal communication
  • Strong Presentation skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills 
  • Previous experience successfully managing multiple priorities and/or working on multiple work streams 
  • Previous experience successfully working in a deadline environment to deliver accurate, timely results Preferred 
  • Proven self-starter with strong problem solving and decision-making skills 
  • Flair for working with peer & vendors; solving any issues that occur
  • Will to win in the most high-pressure situations
  • Support key projects to ensure strategic objectives are achieved
  • Collaborate with key partners both locally and globally within the company if required
  • Highly Proficient in Advanced MS-Excel, MS-Power Point, VBA and SQL

Preferred Qualifications


  • Hands On experience working on power BI tools like Tableau, Power Bi, SAS/SQL would be preferred
  • Experienced with Office Suite with outstanding presentation skills (Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience in presenting & communicating to senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret data and produce significant conclusions to the leadership team. Experience of working in an analytical role which involved comprehensive reporting and data analysis
  • Drive Collection, revenue growth and profitability through advanced analytical techniques
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to convey a clear & compelling message
  • Passion for customer experience and understanding of external business trends.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels. You will have access to sensitive data where a high level of integrity is required
  • Track record building and encouraging positive relationships
  • Extremely organized with significant attention to detail
  • Experience in the travel industry is an advantage 
  • Successful experience working in a complex matrix structure
  • Excellent business knowledge of TLS systems and/ key performance metrics/infrastructure is an advantage
