Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-graduate degree in: statistics, economics, econometrics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, MBA (with a strong quantitative background)
  • 6+ months of professional work experience with an analytics firm in the field of business intelligence and/or Advanced Analytics
  • Statistical programming software experience in Python and comfortable working with large data sets; R & SQL are also preferred
  • Ability to handle data in large volumes (data manipulation, data cleansing and matching) through tools like R, SQL, Excel VBA
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions
  • Adept in forecasting, regression analysis and segmentation work
  • Understanding of Modeling techniques and specifically logistic regression, linear regression, cluster analysis, CHAID, etc.
  • Industry experience in Consumer Goods/Telecom/Retail a plus
  • Ability to interact in a fluid, demanding and unstructured environment where priorities evolve constantly and methodologies are regularly challenged
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver on tight deadlines

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You’ll work with Growth, Marketing & Sales team in Gurgaon primarily supporting the Insights & Analytics (IA) group of GM&S.
Growth, Marketing & Sales team leverages decades of McKinsey’s marketing and sales experience helping leading companies improve pricing, promotion, assortments, and performance management. They use combination of software, tailored services, and expertise provides our clients with a granular view of their commercial and financial performance by gathering and integrating their landscape of data and information into a central data warehouse. Clients can use our intuitive interface to make decisions based on advanced analytics and can embed new pricing, commercial, and performance management capabilities throughout their organization.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As an Analytics Analyst, you will work with the Insights & Analytics group and consulting teams at McKinsey helping solve analytically complex client problems in the marketing domain, applying and administrating analytical/modeling tools and techniques and drawing insights through statistical techniques and predictive modeling.  
The primary role of the Analyst will be client service with additional responsibilities in knowledge development. 
Your key activities as the Analytics Analyst will include:
  • Performing general statistical analysis and modeling in client engagements for marketing efforts
  • Developing statistical models to measure and optimize pricing and promotions
  • Providing guidance to teams on analytics projects related to technique/modeling related issues
  • Supporting development and maintenance of proprietary McKinsey marketing techniques and other knowledge development projects    
  • Coaching and mentoring new hires by sharing business, functional and technical expertise
  • Delivering high quality end products on time and performing quality checks wherever required
