Role Overview: Actuarial Analyst within the Special Projects team
Key Responsibilities (TA to fill)
The Actuarial Special Projects team is a unique team based out of Bengaluru, India, that brings together actuarial and data science professionals to undertake challenging, R&D oriented projects for the actuarial team globally. The spectrum of potential projects is wide, ranging from comparing, developing and recommending best practices for specific aspects of actuarial work to exploring approaches to leverage cutting-edge technologies (e.g. Machine learning and Artificial Intelligence).
As an Actuarial Analyst within the Actuarial Special projects team, you will be responsible for developing and executing complex projects involving actuarial analyses, modelling, and data analysis, typically as part of a small team. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Understanding the problem statement and the associated challenges in implementing a solution in depth. This could involve exploring multiple potential solutions and selecting one to be implemented
- Gathering data and supporting the complex modelling and analysis.
- Contributing to the development of cutting-edge actuarial techniques and tools.
- Working with actuaries to prepare reports and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of the analysis / modelling.
Skills and Qualifications (TA to fill)
- Essential Skills:
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a keen attention to detail
- Familiarity with R, Python, Excel, SQL or other similar software
- Great communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Preferred Skills
- Demonstrated ability to work on open-ended problem statements
- Project management skills - These projects last for a few months at the very least
- Education
- A Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred), with a relevant major
- Great actuarial exam progress commensurate with the quantum of experience
- Experience
- 0 to 4 years of P&C (general insurance) experience in an actuarial role
- Any research experience at college / professional level highly preferred
