Job Description

Job Title:Advanced Product Steward – HazComSummary:This position ensures the continuity and growth of the business by adhering to regulations applicable to the company’s products and operations. The role involves executing and overseeing transactional processes to maintain daily compliance with hazard communication regulations related to raw materials, intermediates, and finished products. Responsibilities include generating and maintaining Safety Data Sheets and labels, participating in the screening of new raw materials and managing the Management of Change (MOC) processes. Additionally, the role provides regulatory approval for New Product Introduction (NPI), product extensions, and product translations. This position offers regulatory support to both internal and external customers and leads or participates in the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards. It drives continuous improvement in product safety, hazard communication, and regulatory processes and system support. The role also involves building a team and enhancing the bench strength of product stewardship professionals for the function. Demonstrates a strong ability to motivate and foster learning and career growth within the team.Responsibilities Include:

Responsibility / Project Management


  • Responsible for leading compliance projects involving multifunctional stakeholders, ensuring the timely delivery of Hazard Communication activities.
  • Leads/contributes to SAP data management and maintain system integrity.
  • Oversees the continuous improvement of hazard communication and product regulatory compliance data management systems and interfaces, adhering to legislative requirements and responding to changes.
  • Responsible for reviewing new inquiries for impact assessment and identify the need for standardized responses.
  • Responsible for documenting SOPs and work instructions.
  • Responsible for data management, elevating and resolving actions independently for data inconsistencies and gaps.
  • Responsible to identify risks to loss and protection of confidential product stewardship information.

Execution


  • Responsible for the preparation and update Safety Data Sheets and labels using standard systems and processes, ensuring they reflect finished product compositions and properties and comply with regional regulatory requirements.
  • Manages product formulations in line with internal data standards
  • Leads HazCom projects related to SDS & label creation and maintenance.
  • Provides regulatory approval in the material master workflow for product creation, product extension, and product translation processes by ensuring that the regional hazard communication needs have been satisfied. 
  • Ensures compliance through management of regulatory checks/blocks. 
  • Adheres to change management processes.
  • Manages multiple activities without compromising delivery.
  • Responsible for researching and responding on time to technical inquiries within scope of expertise.
  • Completes compliance tasks within deadlines and interim milestones.

Collaboration & Communication


  • Manages and facilitates stakeholder communications across functions and regions.
  • Addresses technical problems by involving subject matter experts as necessary..
  • Leads the sharing of information and learnings within PS Team and in meetings.
  • Coordinates multiple cross-functional and PS Team regulatory needs and activities using agile methodology.

Regulatory Skills


  • Possesses comprehensive regulatory intelligence and industry expertise on multiple topics, including UN GHS, Regional HazCom regulations, REACH, etc.
  • Responsible to interpret, analyse, and assess the impact of new or changing regulations, and drives actions through multiple stakeholders to ensure compliance.

Technical Skills


  • Influences Product Stewardship (PS) functional strategy from a technical perspective.
  • Monitors regulatory changes, assess their impacts on Momentive products, and develop action plans for timely implementation of upcoming regulations.
  • Identify teaching opportunities and needs within and outside of the PS organization and ensure follow-up actions are taken to address these needs.

 Process Skills


  • Participates in the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards.
  • Understands the end-to-end SDS authoring processes and identifies areas for automation and streamlining to enhance efficiency.
  • Identifies and leads productivity improvement projects.

Knowledge


  • Stays updated on silicone chemistry, products, end-use applications, and industry best practices.
  • Trains others in Hazard Communication nuances, processes, SAP EHS Module, and relevant business tools.
  • Maintains knowledge of relevant data in other SAP modules impacting Product Stewardship (PS).

Key Metrics Role is Accountable For:


  • Timely and accurate review and maintenance of Safety Data Sheets and labels and Workflow approvals
  • Development and implementation of streamlined processes to ensure compliance, lack of business interruption and appropriate documentation.
  • Support with developing a team of high caliber who succeed through obstacles
  • Exercise mentoring and coaching team members
  •  Proactive communication of changes with global team members, businesses, technology, and other functions
  • Accurate maintenance of EHS SAP data
Qualifications:

The following are required for the role


Minimum Qualifications


  • Technical degree in Engineering, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biology, Life Science, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Engineering, Public Health or equivalent
  • Minimum 10 to 15 years, relevant experience in the chemical or related industry in the area of Product Stewardship and Regulatory Compliance or other applicable experience.
  • Business Acumen, ability to inform business and influence decision making.
  • Basic chemistry skills related to product chemistry.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Able to work, lead, and manage across functions in a global organization with matrix reporting structure.
  • Strong working knowledge of product regulatory legislation and regulation in the regions/countries within job scope.
  • Proven organizational and project management skills. Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in standard office computer systems
  • Available for early morning or late evening global calls as needed.
  • Able to travel, including internationally, as needed and work in a chemical plant environment.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in Silicones industry and/or with highly regulated end use markets in which Momentive operates (personal care, agriculture, healthcare, food contact, etc.)
  • Six Sigma Blackbelt or Greenbelt
  • Project management certification
  • SAP EHS experience.
  •  Product Line Knowledge.
  • Basic Toxicology skills
  • People management experience
