Finance and Global Business Services (FGBS) ACES team applies Lean Six Sigma problem-solving skills to improve Amazon processes, align them with customer requirements, and deliver positive effects in controllership and cost savings. The Business Development team contributes by developing cross-organizational partnerships to drive identification, quantification, and definition of project opportunities between Finance Global Business Services (FGBS) verticals and FGBS ACES Black Belts. We are a project discovery task force that specializes in linking business strategy to opportunity identification and project selection. The business development strategy uses a combination of voice of the customer, voice of the business, voice of the employee, and voice of the process to capture improvement opportunities in complex interdependent business functions. We believe the future of successful project management involves doing the right projects—not just doing projects right. That means making good decisions about which opportunities should become projects. This role applies a mixture of Qualitative, quantitative, networking and leadership skills to drive a culture of exploration, opportunity creation, and continuous improvement. This role has a documented track record of leading, building rapport, and mentoring process improvement teams comprising members of all levels and functions without formal reporting relationships.
We are looking for a strategic and participative Leader who has a mix of people, analytics, and project management capabilities with expertise in Six Sigma and Data Analytics to join our innovative high performing team. In this role, you will leverage your Six Sigma knowledge and proficiency in SQL and Python to drive process improvements and enhance operational efficiencies across Amazon. Your ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into actionable strategies will be crucial in achieving our business objectives.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead project discovery and define phase of high impact Lean Six Sigma projects (DMAIC, DFSS, Kaizen, FMEA, etc.).
• Partner with FGBS business teams and identify opportunities related to cost saving/revenue leakage/efficiencies.
• Manage a portfolio of improvement projects, including auditing of transitioned projects to ensure that process improvements are sustained and benefits are realized.
• Represent FGBS ACES in local and global meetings/conference calls and with network-wide projects.
• Works closely with FGBS and ties in corporate partners (Finance, Accounting, Legal, HR, Facilities, Safety, IT, Customer Service) to secure support and resources for savings opportunities in their area.
• Work with FGBS ACES team members and FinOps teams to find areas that can be explored further to identify improvement opportunities/projects.
• Develop quantitative and qualitative process maps to describe how various people and teams within a business are involved in a process.
• Objectively evaluate process workflows to understand the current state.
• Conduct data mining to conclude if defects will lead to excessive costs, reduced revenue/GMS, or increased audit/controllership risks.
• Read and transform organizational data to evaluate process details, prioritize fixes, and continually track workflows.
• Discover and assess automation initiatives, regulatory compliance and other critical business decisions.

- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- 5+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Statistics or Business (preferably in quantitative field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in Lean Six Sigma tools, such statistics, SPC, hypothesis testing, regression, root cause analysis, etc.
- People and stakeholder management experience.
- Experience in project identification, process analysis and improvement.
- Knowledge of at least 1 functional area and processes (Finance, Operations, Procurement, Accounting, Logistics, IT Management, etc.).
- Proficient in Minitab, Python, R Studio.
- Strong data manipulation skills (SQL).
- Experience with data analysis, analytics and visualization.
- Adaptable to various situations and business processes to add value cross functionally.
- Self-starter capable of taking initiative and working with minimal direction.
- Proven project management ability that shows how to organize, find solutions, and follow through to a successful conclusion
- Proven ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

- 7+ years of finance experience or a related analytical field.
- Master’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Operations, Computer Science or Business Administration.
- Proven proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and SciPy for data analysis.
- Demonstrated subject expertise in transactional data analysis.
- Cross-functional project management experience and PMO leadership.
- Strong process, finance, manufacturing, or engineering background with an ability to understand work flow and throughput through the operation (Finance background preferred, but not required).
- Demonstrated strong collaborative problem-solving skills evidenced by results in past positions.
- Demonstrated Change Management experience, including the ability to work with improvement team sponsors to address barriers to a team’s success.
- Lean Six Sigma Certification, Certified Lean Sensei, Certified Quality Engineer, etc.
- Experience in data mining and business process management.
- Familiarity with at least one enterprise suite (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with one or more Process Mining tools (Celonis, UiPath Process Mining, QPR, etc.).
