About the job:


The Red Hat Global Accounting team is looking for a “Project Accountant” position based in Pune, The Accountant will be responsible for the project accounting activities for the company. This role involves project creations, invoicing, revenue recognition, reconciliation, and supporting the financial reporting process.


To succeed in this role, you’ll need to have strong accounting & analytical skills with hands on experience on ERP preferably Oracle


What will you do?


  • Creation of T&M, Fixed fee & POC projects in Project Accounting module in Oracle
  • Generation of Upfront Billing invoices & interfacing them to Accounts Receivable
  • Monthly Time & Material Billing / Credit Memo
  • Scheduling of Request in oracle for Import of time & expense, Costing
  • Expenditure inquiry adjustments – Transfer of Hours, making items Billable, Non-Billable, Split of Hours, Billing Hold, one time Hold
  • Perform, monitor and review all SOX and operational controls
  • Monthly Closing of Project Accounting Module
  • Month End Reporting - Deferred Revenue Report, Revenue Audit Report, Missing Time report & Backlog Report
  • Monthly Reconciliation of Deferred Revenue, Unbilled AR, Revenue, & Accounts receivable
  • Prepare manual journal entries
  • Monthly Project Hygiene Activity
  • Development of various Noetix Reports related to Project Accounting through Reports Wand (Excel based application)
  • Participation in User Acceptance Testing for go live of new countries
  • Coordination with the Oracle EBS IT team to build new reports in Oracle PA module.
  • Coordination with the People team to set up the organisation as project owning organisation
  • Preparation of Process Documents
  • Work closely with the Services/Consulting teams for customer projects
  • Close coordination with different teams including Services, AR, GL, Revenue, FPNA & OM
  • Compile information for internal and external auditors
  • Maintain proper records for all projects, with all the appropriate documents, including expenses
  • Prepare Disclosure adjustments
  • Communicate final revenue numbers to the business
  • Perform, monitor and review all SOX and operational controls

What will you bring?


  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in accounting in multinational corporations.
  • Strong knowledge of professional services billing & revenue recognition, reconciliation
  • Proficiency in Oracle EBS, Microsoft Office Suite and financial reporting tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and analytical with the desire to learn for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work in high pace and dynamic environment and a team player working towards a common team goal.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
