We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant Expense Allocation to join our Corporate Accounting team. This role is responsible for allocating expenses that arise from Lexington’s investment management activities, ensuring that costs are properly categorized and attributed across funds, investment entities, and corporate accounts. The successful candidate will report to the Corporate Accounting team and work closely with internal stakeholders to maintain financial accuracy and compliance with firm policies.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Allocate expenses appropriately across funds, investment entities, and corporate accounts in alignment with Lexington’s investment management activities.
Review and analyze legal invoices, ensuring accurate billing, proper categorization, and adherence to contractual agreements.
Monitor and track allocated expenditures, identifying trends, cost drivers, and areas for potential optimization. Prepare quarterly reports for management summarizing all expense allocations
Liaise with external law firms and internal Legal & Compliance teams to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure accurate expense allocation.
Maintain accurate records and documentation to support allocation methodologies, audits, and internal financial reporting.
Collaborate with Corporate Accounting, Fund Accounting, and Legal & Compliance teams to ensure smooth processing and proper financial reporting.
Perform ad hoc projects as requested by Corporate Accounting.
The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor's degree.
3+ years of experience in expense management, legal billing, or a related financial role.
Familiarity with legal billing processes, law firm invoices, and cost allocation methodologies related to investment management activities.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret invoices and identify cost discrepancies.
Proficiency in financial software, accounting systems, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel). Experience with Workday or Coupa is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external legal service providers.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling sensitive information.
