Search Tips

1. Get Started with a Broad Search

Start by searching for job titles that broadly relate to the job role you’re hiring for. This will give you a wide range of candidates. You can then narrow your search with more specific keywords.

Tip: Start simple. You can always add more details later.

Example: Instead of only searching for a "Python Developer," try broader phrases like "Developer" or similar roles like "Software Engineer" to see more profiles.

2. Identify and Use Relevant Keywords

Our search engine looks for CV matches from the Bayt database and uploaded resumes. Use terms that candidates are likely to mention in their resumes to increase relevant results.

Tip: Think of common skills or job titles that candidates use.

Example: For a "Software Developer," you can also try "Programmer" or "Full Stack Developer."

3. Select the Right Search Mode: 'Any' vs. 'All'

Choose how you want to run your search:

  • Any Keywords: This option finds CVs with at least one of the keywords you entered.

Example: Searching for ‘java OR oracle’ will return CVs that mention either skill or both.

  • All Keywords: This option finds CVs with all the keywords you entered.

Example: Searching for "java AND oracle" will return candidates who have both skills.

4. Use Filters to Create Precise Searches

Apply filters such as location, industry, or experience to focus your search on the most relevant candidates. This will help you find the best match for your job requirements.

Tip: Filters like "Experience Level" or "Location" can help you target the right candidates.

Example: Searching for a "Marketing Manager in the UAE" within the advertising industry will give you more precise results.

5. Further Refine Results with Filters and Shortlists

Too many results? Use our clustered filters, known as ‘Shortlist’, on the sidebar to narrow them down.

Tip: Quickly compare your top candidates using these filters.

Example: Filter results using the shortlist filters, such as "Nationality," "Monthly Salary Range," or "Years of Experience," to find the best matches.

6. Use Multiple Job Titles for Broader Results

Candidates may use different job titles for the same role. Try searching with various titles to find more applicants.

Tip: Think of alternate job titles for the role you're hiring for.

Example: If you're searching for an "HR Recruiter," also try "Talent Acquisition Specialist" or "HR Manager."

7. Use Boolean Search + Exact Match for Precision

Boolean operators can help you create more accurate searches:

  • AND: This option returns CVs that include both keywords.

    Example: "Project Manager" AND PMP

  • OR: This option returns CVs with at least one keyword.

    Example: Recruiter OR "Talent Specialist"

  • NOT: This option excludes keywords from the results.

    Example: Engineer NOT Civil

Exact Match: Use quotes for exact results.

Example: Searching "Customer Service Representative" will only return CVs with that exact title.

Search Tips

Keep in mind that there are multiple ways to do a search. Should you need more CV options, you can use multiple job titles in the keywords field, use certifications or skills etc.

Example: You might be looking for an HR personnel who’s called a “Recruiter” in Company A, but a “Talent Acquisition Specialist” in Company B.

Tip: Job titles may differ from organization to organization but come with the same responsibilities or tasks. Do not only focus on the job title itself but instead take into consideration the duties being performed.

8. How to do a specific search using Boolean?

If you are searching for a specific role or title that comes with strict specifications or requirements, you can utilize Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT, quotation marks, parenthesis) to create a boolean search string.

Example: You may want to search for CVs that contain the keyword "project manager" or "program manager" as long as the CV does not contain the word "construction", and in all cases the CV must contain the word "PMP". This search can be entered as:

form cvSearchTxt43 form cvSearchTxt44

5. Start with a general search then narrow down your choices

When you start with a general search, you will get an idea on the strength of CVs in the database. This is a good way to start your search and identify how you can perform your next searches better. You can narrow down the results by adding more keywords to your search string.

If you’re looking for an “HSE Qatari national with Nebosh certification in Qatar”, you can try the following search order:

First Search String Keyword: HSE
Second Search String Keyword: HSE Nebosh
Third Search String Keyword: HSE Nebosh
Residence Location: Qatar
Fourth Search String Keyword: HSE Nebosh
Residence Location: Qatar
Nationality: Qatar
6. Narrow down your search results

If the number of CVs from the search is a lot, you can narrow down your search results by adding more filters. Use the main filters or use the shortlist options that are present on the left side of your screen.

Note: The main filters will scan the whole database of Bayt.com. On the other hand, the shortlisting cluster will only narrow your current search results; not the whole database.

3. Select the appropriate search option
  • Any: The search will return CVs that contain any (or all) of the keywords you entered. For example, if you enter “oracle java” in the keywords text box and choose "Any", the system will return CVs that contain the word "oracle", CVs that contain the word "java", and CVs that contain both of them.
  • All: The search will return only CVs that contain all of the keywords you entered. For example, if you enter “oracle java” in the keywords text box, and choose "All", the system will return only CVs that contain both words "oracle" and "java". However, note that the words may appear in the CV in any order. For example, if a CV contains the word "java" in the job title and the word "oracle" in the training section, this CV will be returned.
  • Exact Order: The search will return only CVs that contain the entered words in that exact order. For example, if you enter “project manager” in the keywords text box and choose "Exact", the system will return only CVs that contain the words "project manager" in this order.
  • Boolean: The search will return CVs that contain any (or all) of the keywords you entered. For example, if you enter “oracle java” in the keywords text box and choose "Any", the system will return CVs that contain the word "oracle", CVs that contain the word "java", and CVs that contain both of them.

4. Search for CVs with filtration tools

Are you looking to hire for a specific talent? Use a combination of filters to create an accurate search based on the role requirements. We recommend focusing on mandatory requirements of the role. Example: Marketing Manager in UAE working in the advertising industry:

Search String
Keyword Marketing Manager
Residence location filter UAE
Industry filter Advertising
