Job Description
The role of a Technical Product Manager involves guiding the activities charged with product line contribution. The functions attributed to this role are inclusive of efforts to increase the profitability of already existent services as well as the development of new products & services for the business.
The Technical Product Manager should possess a blend of business and technical savvy; a vision, and a drive that transforms that vision into a reality, and to be extremely comfortable in the market field in order to understand the market needs and come up with innovative solutions through the business’s product.
Technical Product Manager acts as liaison between departments to decide on proper strategies and plans while acting as points of contact. He also commonly has project management duties to tend to, such as drafting budgets and supervising work plans.
Technical Product Manager is expected to be a good leader and be able to form connections with his co-workers and team members.
Role and Responsibilities
- Product Vision: Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to define the product vision and strategy.
- Technical Requirements: Define and document detailed technical requirements and specifications.
- Roadmap Development: Create and maintain a product roadmap, prioritizing features and timelines.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, design, and QA teams to ensure alignment and smooth execution.
- Technical Decision-Making: Make informed technical decisions based on data and analysis.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks that may impact the product's success.
- Technical Documentation: Create and maintain clear and concise technical documentation.
- Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of the product and identify areas for improvement.
Required Skills and Experience
- Strong technical background, ideally with experience in software engineering or data science.
- Proven experience as a Technical Product Manager or similar role.
- Deep understanding of product management methodologies and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
