Job Summary:
The Technical Office Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining raw material standards for the company's furniture products. This includes defining acceptable quality criteria, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with Vendor OPS to maintain high material quality. The role plays a critical part in ensuring product durability, consistency, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Raw Material Standards Development
Define minimum acceptable standards for raw materials (e.g., wood, fabric, metal, paint).
Develop and document material specifications, including strength, durability, and aesthetic requirements.
Establish quality benchmarks in compliance with national / international furniture industry standards.
Supplier Collaboration
Work closely with Vendor OPS to ensure material compliance with company standards.
Provide Vendor OPS with detailed specifications and inspection guidelines.
Address material non-conformities and coordinate with Vendor OPS to implement corrective actions.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate with product designers, procurement, and Vendor OPS to ensure raw material specifications align with product requirements.
Provide technical support to the Material Inspection team for raw material quality checks.
Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) processes to verify material suitability for new designs.
Continuous Improvement
Regularly review and update material standards based on new technologies, market trends, and feedback.
Identify opportunities to enhance material performance, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
Propose innovative material solutions to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
Documentation and Training
Maintain detailed records of material standards, testing procedures, and supplier compliance.
Train internal teams (e.g., quality inspectors, Showroom, Content) on material requirements and quality expectations.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (e.g., Materials Science, Mechanical, Industrial, or Civil Engineering) or a related field.
Experience:
3-5 years of experience in raw material quality control, technical office roles, or manufacturing within the furniture or related industries.
Experience with material testing and industry-specific standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM).
Technical Skills:
Knowledge of raw materials used in furniture manufacturing (e.g., types of wood, foam density, upholstery fabric, and hardware).
Familiarity with quality assurance tools and standards.
Proficiency in CAD software and technical documentation tools.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and product specifications.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for working with cross-functional teams and Vendor OPS.
Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
