Job Description

Responsible for designing and managing transportation systems to ensure the safe and efficient movement of people and goods. Their job duties include: Conducting traffic studies and analyzing data to identify areas where transportation systems can be improved. Designing and implementing traffic control systems, such as intelligent transportation systems and traffic signal control systems. Developing transportation plans and strategies to help clients optimize their transportation systems. Collaborating with other engineers and stakeholders to design and implement transportation solutions that meet the needs of clients. Using modeling software to simulate traffic flow and evaluate the impact of proposed changes. Conducting safety audits and identifying potential hazards on roads and highways. Managing transportation-related construction projects. Conducting public outreach and education campaigns to promote safe and efficient transportation practices. the Traffic Engineer also responsible for integrating transportation systems with other systems, such as smart city solutions, and ensuring that all systems work together seamlessly.

Personal Skills

A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, or a related field is typically required. A master's degree in transportation engineering is also desirable. The ability to analyze data and use modeling software to simulate traffic flow and evaluate the impact of proposed changes. The ability to identify problems and recommend effective solutions is also important. The ability to communicate complex technical information to a variety of stakeholders, including engineers, city officials, and the general public. The ability to prepare written reports and deliver presentations is also important. The ability to manage transportation-related construction projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and quality control. The ability to work collaboratively with other engineers and stakeholders is also important. The ability to think creatively and develop innovative transportation solutions that meet the needs of clients and stakeholders. The ability to pay close attention to detail and ensure that transportation systems are designed and implemented accurately and efficiently

Technical Skills

- A strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, including traffic flow theory, traffic control devices, and transportation planning.
- Experience with traffic modeling software, such as VISSIM, Synchro, and/or Cube, is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software is also an advantage.
- A strong understanding of transportation regulations, including federal, state, and local laws, codes, and standards.
