Job Description
To maintain computer systems, and to develop newtechnical solutions as demanded by the technical and business strategies.
Key Result Areas- Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware,peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance withstandards and project/operational requirements.
- Contribute to and maintain system standards.
- Install and maintain Backup infrastructure.
- Provide on-call and out of hours incident support.
- Research and develop new technologies.
- Provide general incident and problem support.
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity andavailability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes,reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduledjobs such as backups.
- Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possibleintrusions.
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems andsystem data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapesor disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
- Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
- Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinateand communicate with impacted constituencies.
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, andupgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services asnecessary
- Comprehensive knowledge of Windows Server
- TCP/IP, DHCP,DNS and Active Directory
- Extensive knowledge of server hardware andnetworking equipment
- Trouble Shooting:
- Using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Using documentation and external resources
- Good shell scripting skills
- An ability to produce documentation that is well-structured and well-written.
- To be conscious of the requirement for on-goingsecurity and to apply it as appropriate
- Experience of delivering complete technicalprojects.
- Experience with operating system imaging technology(Drive Imaging).
- Working experience with Backup solutions
- Monitoring IT infrastructure use and providingaccountability
- Working knowledge of SQL-Server, Microsoft serverand client Architecture
