Job Responsibilities:
The System Engineer responsibilities are as follows, he/she must:
- Ensures global consistency of the engineering process, practices and tools, organizes the co-engineering then approves lower-level solution elements or components’ engineering plans including those flown down to subcontractors and partners.

- The purpose of requirements management is to ensure product (= technical solution to realize) development goals are successfully met. It is a set of techniques for documenting, analyzing, prioritizing, and agreeing on requirements so that engineering teams always have current and approved requirements
- Define solution with specification documentation (during design, development and validation phases) as writer and/or reviewer and/or approver
- Collaborate with engineers, operations, program management, product management, and other stakeholders to come up with solutions.

- Specification document: system specification document and interface specification documents
- Identify and characterize the internal and external interfaces with two “components”. How and what are discussing both “components”
- Manage technical presentations, discussions, workshops.
- Manage the analysis and capture of user requirements.
- Acts as the technical interface with customers responding to queries and providing technical solutions.
- Requirements Management:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather, analyze, and document system requirements.
- Contribute to the RFQ phase for the requirements assessment and the customer discussions in the project.
- Utilize requirement management tools to establish and maintain traceability of requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure alignment of system design with customer requirements and standards.
- Systems Engineering Methodology:
- Apply systems engineering principles and methodologies to guide the development and integration of complex systems.
- Conduct system-level trade studies, analysis, and optimization to balance performance, cost, and risk.
- Participate in system validation and verification activities to ensure the system meets the specified requirements.
- System Design & Architecture:
- Collaborate with the Architect in defining the physical and logical architectures of Automatic Fare Collection systems.
- Create and manage system-level design documentation, including block diagrams, interface specifications, and system integration plans.
- Ensure that system designs meet both technical requirements and business objectives.
- Integration & Testing:
- Collaborate with the system test team to ensure the compliance of the testing to the requirements.
- Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, project managers, and development teams, to ensure the successful delivery of AFC projects.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Attend meetings with the customer and different teams within Hitachi Rail, either on-site or online.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development of best practices within the AFC team.
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in AFC technology and propose innovative solutions to enhance system performance.
Key communications in this position are:
- With all levels of staff via meetings, written communications and one-on-one communication.
- Regular communications with the customer.
- Regular communication with the System Engineering Manager.
- Regular communication with the Project Design Authority to define the technical solution.
- Regular communications with the development team in Cairo and other Hitachi Rail countries depending on the project.
- Regular communication with the stakeholders involved in delivering the solution
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience of management of an engineering team
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering.
- Prior experience in the transportation, rail, or AFC industry is a plus.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to fare collection systems is a plus.
- Experience on open payment Solution is a plus
- Experience in complex System Integration with third party component
- Experience in Deployment of complex and critical System
- Experience in Back Office financial system
- Experience in Web Oriented Architecture solution
- Autonomy
- Versatility and flexibility
- Rigorousness, commitment and accountability, ability to take and meet commitments
- Fluent in English. French is a nice to have.
- Agile Methodology
- each system/sub-system is composed of software component and hardware component.
- a solution is composed of several systems and sub-systems
- Understanding on solution breakdown description (=Product Breakdown Structure)
- Interstate and overseas travel may be required.
