Summary



This is a summer 2025 internship position. The National Credit Union Administration is seeking highly motivated and qualified candidates for exciting internship positions. The Pathways Intern Program provides paid work experiences for students to work in areas such as finance, communications, technology, policy, personnel, and business.

Duties



These positions are temporary, not to exceed 90 days. This position may be extended or non-competitively converted to a permanent position.
As an intern, you will be selected to work in the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). OCIO enables NCUA stakeholders to effectively leverage information technology (IT) products and services as well as provides threat-informed, risk-based implementations of NCUA networks, systems, and applications to protect data and mitigate external and internal security threats. Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Developing and maintaining critical software applications, focusing on enhancing functionality and user experience in line with federal standards. Web and application development, database management, and participation in cybersecurity initiatives, ensuring compliance with federal data security regulations. Engage in IT project support, aiding in project management and documentation, and contribute to research on emerging technologies. Provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and partake in mentorship and learning opportunities within the agency's technology framework.

Conditions of Employment



You must be a U.S. Citizen. Suitable adjudication of background/security investigation is required. Enrolled at least half-time at a qualifying educational institution. Must be in good academic standing. Must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Qualifications



To qualify for the NCUA Pathways Intern Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Must be enrolled at least half-time or accepted into a degree-seeking program (bachelors, graduate, or professional), qualifying certificate program, or qualifying career or technical education program that awards a recognized postsecondary credential (such as a Registered Apprenticeship Program, Jobs Corps, AmeriCorps, and Peace Corps) from a qualifying educational institution. Transcripts must show proof of current enrollment in spring 2025 courses and continuing education through either the summer or fall semesters. Must submit unofficial transcripts showing current enrollment in spring 2025 courses at the time of application. Current transcripts must show a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5. If you are a student veteran, submit the required documentation as described in the Required Documents section.

To be eligible for the Student Trainee (IT Cyber Security) position, the degree-seeking program in which you are enrolled must be in or related to one of the following areas: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.



You must meet the education and eligibility requirements for this position by the start date. Official transcripts must be obtained prior to start date in order to verify that education requirements have been met.Education



CU-04: Completion of two years post-high school education (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours).
If you are graduating in the spring of 2025, you must receive acceptance into a bachelor's or post-bachelor's program by May 2025 to be eligible for the Pathways Summer Intern Program. In order to participate in the Program, proof of acceptance must be submitted prior to start date.

SALARY: Pay will be set within the advertised pay range to align with the selectee's skills and experience and the requirements of the position in accordance with NCUA's compensation policy. The salary range shown is NCUA's Local Pay Rate (LPR) which includes the locality rate for the Alexandria, Virginia geographical area. Please click to review all salary ranges based on locality.
This position is not eligible for health benefits and life insurance. Students are eligible to earn four hours of annual leave and four hours of sick leave per pay period.
