Work closely with your business to identify issues and use data to propose solutions for effective decision making and drive business insights
Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies
Maintain clear and coherent communication, both verbal and written, to understand data needs and report results
Use machine learning tools and statistical techniques to produce solutions to problems
Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques
Use predictive modelling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes
Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets
Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyse model performance and data accuracy
Present information using data visualization techniques
Horizon scan to stay up to date with latest technology, techniques and methods
Conduct research from which you'll develop prototypes and proof of concepts
Look for opportunities to use insights/datasets/code/models across other functions in the organisation

Having strong quantitative skills is a good base, but an interest in data and being able to solve problems logically and methodically are often bigger factors
Exceptional communication skills, in order to explain your work to people who don't understand the mechanics behind data analysis

Experience in (or a willingness to get to grips with) database interrogation and analysis tools, such as Hadoop, SQL and SAS
Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development
Experience using statistical computer languages to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
Experience working with and creating data models
Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications
education, qualifications, and certifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in statistics, math, computer science and economics (or another relevant area), or equivalent relevant experience with a demonstrable commitment to self-development
ITIL v3 foundation certification
Financial background is a plus
Optionnel: CMM/CMMI, PMP or PgMP or Prince2 or MSP (or internal PM certifications), Six Sigma certifications
Experience
Minimum of 10 years of customer-facing experience in the telecom or IT industry
Experience in working in an international environment with geographically distributed teams.
Experience in developing, documenting and optimizing processes
Experience in communicating and reporting to senior management
Data Engineer must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations. Data Engineer is a senior profile to support company vision with insights gained from analyzing company data. He/she will be using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action.
Data Engineers should be able to drive business results with their data-based insights working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams discovering solutions hidden in large data sets to improve business results.
Data Engineer will use their strong business sense along with an ability to communicate findings to both business and IT leaders in a way that can influence how an organization approaches a business challenge
