Job Description:


You as a Senior SAS Commissioning Engineer will be part of Hitachi Energy business based in Cairo, Egypt. You will be acting as the responsible commissioning engineer overseeing the installation and commissioning of RTU and substation automation systems for assignments classified as medium commissioning complexity and managing the completion of all commissioning activities efficiently and cost-effectively and in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and above all following the safety requirements.


Your responsibilities          


  • Executing the installation supervision and system commissioning safely following all safety standards of Hitachi Energy as well as the customer. Reporting Hazards, near misses at working location back to the office for records and further improvement.
  • Supporting the engineering team by performing engineering tasks under the supervision of lead engineers during idle commissioning times.
  • Carrying out the commissioning as per the documented process description and checklists.
  • Continuous interactions with the engineering and project management team to carry out the site works effectively.
  • Reporting the Site progress & Site plan. Ensure efficient use of the commissioning assets and initiating and monitor risk mitigation plans in one’s area of responsibility and ensure stakeholders are updated on associated technical risks.
  • Preparing project documentation for SAT, and FAT as required. Obtaining approvals from utilities for commissioning activities of RTU, and SAS systems including scheme testing
  • First point of contact in case of interferences including problem-solving in close cooperation with customers and project manager and lead engineers.

Your background             


  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering is required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in commissioning of SAS or RTU systems, knowledge of protection and control systems commissioning will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of RTU and substation automation systems philosophy principles of applications and concepts.
  • Communication protocols and network topology know how, IEC61850, IEC -101, IEC -104, IEC -103, DNP3, Modbus and knowledge of protection and control systems is a plus.
  • Profound experience with Hitachi Energy software e.g., Micro SCADA, PCM600, RTU and independent personality with the ability to operate reliably under difficult circumstances.
  • Willing to work on missions around Egypt and other African countries. (Up to 90 % of the time) with a proficient representation of Hitachi Energy.
  • Proven technical report generation, communication, and customer interface skills, multi-priority, and multitasking and has an analytical and strategic approach
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
