about the role
To Deploy and operate Oracle IT systems within the Equant MHS Data centers. Perform regular day to day database operations including; Problem Resolution, Upgrades and Maintenance, Backups, Performance Monitoring and Tuning.
Incident Management
Diagnose and fix database errors ; ensure solution is permanent i.e. adjust scripts or report to application owner the root cause and how to permanently resolve it
Maintain physical integrity (i.e. managed by the database engine) of databases ; this includes restoring database contents when necessary from either export files or physical backup files - please note that data integrity (referential or functional relationship between records) is NOT under DBA responsibility.
Perform post mortems analysis (i.e. find and document root cause) for every outage that had an impact to QoS
Change Management
Run change requests on target databases ; this may include physical model changes (DDL - data definition language) and data modification (DML - data manipulation language) ; collect and return completion status to requester Migrate databases to upper releases including data transfer ; propose best method to transfer data Participate in system evolution and attend development meetings when requested.
Performance Management
Run, analyze and report on database performances for applications class A/B or defined as critical to Equant business
Other Tasks / Requirements
- Design and run export procedures for refreshing QA environments
- Design, document and maintain databases operation procedures
- Be involved in the "Equant Problem Management" process for database issues
- Specify needs on core services and tools (Monitoring, Statistics, Reporting,…)Proactively check available vendor patches and inform Equant of potential risks or security holes
- Function as a member of a dynamic team supporting a complex and diverse enterprise Oracle/Sybase/MS Sql Production environment
- Be able to work efficiently with minimal supervision, manage a diverse workload, work release schedules (May be out of hours) where required, and participate in Production system on-call rotation
- Provide IT customers with a seamless and efficient Global Surveillance & Restoration service as outlined within Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Provide accurate and timely KPI reporting
Qualifications:
Outstanding Oracle DBA skills; preferably with 19C Strong Exdata and Data Guard experience Experience operating on Exadata is essential Database Skills in RMAN,RAC,ASM, Data guard is essential Web Logic Server, and Oracle eBusiness Suite of Applications added plus Experience with enterprise monitoring and management tools such as Oracle Enterprise Manager. Medium to Expert level of automation skills using one or more computer languages such as Python, Perl, Shell, Java. Experience with virtualization technologies will be advantageous Experience with tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Chef will be advantageous. Ability to think creatively and work independently
about you
Bachelor of Engineering degree or higher. 8 + years of experience in the Information Systems industry 6 years of strong experience in Oracle enterprise environment management 3 years of experience in the support of Open source databases / or MS Sql. will be beneficial Technical background required on: java and scala . Knowledge of Unix, Linux, Data Warehousing, Network Architecture, Configuration Management, Storage Area Networks Strong ability to work with International Customers Fluent verbal and written communication skills in the following languages: English (Essential) French (Preferable)
